Statement of Motivation for visa purposes - our advice

The statement of motivation should include the following points:

• Your main objective for your participation in a language school in Germany

• If your objectives are professional, please comment on the following:

o If you already work for a company which does business with Germany,
then describe your role and tasks.
o Or, if you intend to work for a company in the future and take up a
position for which knowledge of German is necessary, describe your
professional objectives and why you are aiming for them.
• If you wish to study in Germany, please explain:
o Your main area of study
o Why you wish to study this specific subject
o Your professional objectives or the career perspectives you associate with
your subject choice

Include the above points in an essay of approximately one side, written by yourself in
either German or English.

Forward your statement to us and take it, together with your other documents, to the
German embassy or consulate.

Inform us of the appointment for your visa application. We will also advise the German
immigration authority of your application.

The German authorities will want to be convinced of the sincerity of your request to
come to Germany in order to learn German.
