Analysis

Theme :
 Fortitude :
We can know it is Fortitude because in this story Aksionov try to be patient with his fate. He
receivewith his destiny.

Character and Characterization of story :

 Ivan Dmitrich Aksionov
Aksionov is a rich person, handsome, fair-haired, curly-headed fellow, full of fun, and
very fond of singing. He had two shops and a house of his own.
When quite a young man he had been given to drink, and was riotous when he had had
too much; but after he married he gave up drinking, except now and then.
Positive Thinker :
When he laughing what his wife say about her dream that she have a bad dream when he
returned from the town, and when he took off his cap,she saw that Aksionov hair was quite
grey. Aksionov still laughing and said that the dream is a lucky sign for him.
Discipline :
In part of story when he take some rest in the inn at the night but it was not Aksionov's
habit to sleep late, and, wishing to travel while it was still cool, he aroused his driver
before dawn, and told him to put in the horses.
Resigned :
In the part when he said to himself “It seems that only God can know the truth”. He gave
up all hope and only prayed to God.
Good person :
When actually he know about who the person digging in the prison but he not answer
who he is and keep quite about it.

 Aksionov’s wife
Care person :
When she worried her bad dream about his husband that when he was came back home, his hair
become grey. She thought that the dream is bad sign for her husband so she worry.
Suspects :
“Vanya dearest, tell your wife the truth; was it not you who did it?” , in that sentence explain
how she suspect Aksionov eventhough he is her husband.
 Persistent :
When she keep sending the petition to help her husband get his freedom. Eventhough her petition
is refused the judge .

When he put on the knife in the Aksionov bag and escape.

When Makar was found out dug a hole by Aksionov and tried to threaten him.

PLOT :
 Orientation :
It’s begin introducing the main character or protagonist, Aksionov, in the story. Talk
about where he lives, what he works, and how he looks. It’s describe in the beginning of the
story. It’s also talk about Aksionov’s wife worried about him because she got a bad dream about
her husband. But Aksionov doesn’t think about that and keep positive thinking to calm his wife.
Precisely he said to his wife that it’s a lucky sign for them.
Aksionov was going to the Nizhny Fair, he say good bye to his family and drove away. Until at
the half way,he take some rest in the inn and met a merchant. They had some tea together, and
then went to bed in adjoining rooms.
 Rising Action :
When Aksionov met the police whose like introgation him. Because there are a merchant
who killed by someone and unfortunately the merchant was with him before the incident.
Aksionov can’t do nothing even he tell the truth because the evidence is in his bag. The police-
officer ordered the soldiers to bind Aksionov and to put him in the cart.
His wife feel sad know about that news and she went to the town where her husband was in
jail. At first she was not allowed to see him; but after much begging, she obtained permission
from the officials, and was taken to him.
She said that she was write a petition to help her husband get her freedom but all of it was
refused. She don’t know what should she do again. Aksinov felt sad and gave up about all.
 Climax :
When he meet with Makar and finally he knows the truth about the real killer. Aksionov
was confuse between he want to tell about everything that he know about the killer to police or
keep silent about it and reveice his fate. He feel confused also angry with his fate. He wanna
revenge to Makar. He wanna Makar know and feel what he felt during in the prison .
In this part, we can know about the problem that Aksionov feel. Problem with his self and
problem with Makar who the real killer.
 Falling Action :
When Aksionov doesn’t tell about what Makar did to the police. He doesn’t tell what he
know about dig of the hole that expecially Makar did. He keep quite and the police also believe
him. Suddenly Makar feel so wrong. He realize that he has pa big mistake with Aksionov. At the
night he came to Aksionov to apologize his all mistake.
 Resolution :
When Aksionov forgive the Makar mistake and Aksionov think if God will forgive
Makar’s sin aslo. So that why he forgive his mistake, because he think that his sin is bigger than
Makar’s sin. He wanna atone his sin to God. He no longer had any desire to leave the prison,
 but only hoped for his last hour to come. In spite of what Aksionov had said, Makar
Semyonich confessed, his guilt. But when the order for his release came, Aksionov was
already dead.

SETTINGS
 PLACE : The town of Vladimir, to the Nizhny Fair, Siberia, Home, the inn, in the prison,
travelled half-way.
 TIME : One Summer, Before dawn, on the night,in the evening, next day.
 SCENERY : Tense, Annoying, Sad.

POV
 Third Person : At the beginning of the story there are narrator explain about the main character
and there are many word of “He” that prefer to the main character. In there, the narrator also
know everything about the story, so that why the narrator explain so clearly.

Related the Title

 Title : God Sees the Truth, but Waits.
The related of title and the story is also tiedly. It’s about how Aksionov,the protagonist,
in the begin when he was young. He also drunker and naughty. After he get married, he slowly
changes but still like a ‘sembrono’because when his wife said about her bad dream. He doesn’t
pay attention about that and keep going.
In here, God try to aware him so in the half way he got a problem and the end at the
prison. His wife can’t help anymore and suspent him. Finally he just can truth with God and
always pray to God. In the prison,he became a good person that way everyone like him. Until he
met the real killer in the accident and he know but he still be patient. Eventhough he like want to
revenge, but he can’t and won’t it. He said ‘the God will did to him’.
In the end of the story, Makar, the real killer, apologize to him about what he did with
Aksionov’s life. Initially he can’t forgive him but finally he apologizing and until the time of his
freedom he finally died. That why, this story has title ‘God…’ because the main character change
slowly to be a better person because God him he problem and he know if God him a problem to
atone for his sin as long as h elived. Because he deserved to get it.

Moral Value
 The moral value that we can learn depends on this story is ‘It’s okay to be a good person’. even
you have revenge with someone, ‘It is okay to apologize it’.
