Giver of Life Enriches Loyola Once Again

By Shuvyneal O. Salud

July – To mark the opening of the academic year, the Loyolans are bound to celebrate a Holy
Eucharist. The St. Ignatius Choir had to practice for the songs to be sung, the lectors and commentator
had to lay themselves on the readings that will be read by them while the others had to prepare a love
offering to be offered on the altar. Every Loyolan has to take part of our school’s tradition, the Holy Spirit
Mass.

Mass of the Holy Spirit is celebrated in conjunction with Academic Convocation as the official
start to the academic year. It is being celebrated every year by the Loyola High School proffering the
opportunity, in prayer, to ask for the Holy Spirit’s intercession throughout the upcoming school year. As a
Catholic Jesuit school, we came together as a community to celebrate the Mass, rejuvenating our hearts
and souls and praying that the Spirit will be with us to inspire, give us wisdom and guide us through the
year.

The Holy Spirit is one of the Triune God, whom is the Giver of Life. This is given to live inside those
who believe in Jesus, in order to produce God's character in the life of a believer. In a way that we cannot
do on our own, the Holy Spirit will build into our lives love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness,
faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Rather than trying to be loving, patient, kind, God asks us to rely
on Him to produce these qualities in our lives. Thus Christians are told to walk in the Spirit and be filled
with the Spirit.

Filled by the power of the Holy Ghost and enlightened by His words, we were enriched already by
the 7 gifts of the Holy Spirit. Everyone is tasked to make the school year 2018-2019 a meaningful and
blissful one. Living a life that follows the path of Jesus Christ.
