The Phillipines will certainly be subject to damaging earthquakes in the future.

Some of these earthquakes will occur in highly populated and vulnerable areas. Coping
with moderate earthquakes is not a reliable indicator of preparedness for a major
earthquake in a populated area. The recent, disastrous, magnitude-6.8 earthquake that
struck South Cotabato demonstrates the threat that earthquakes pose. Such disaster
can strike anytime without even knowing. You cannot stop earthquakes, but we can
learn more, in hopes of discovering ways to protect ourselves from them. There are a
few ways we could help prevent some damage of earthquakes in the future.

Earthquakes are hard to understand and are dangerous to live through. Many
people might have never experienced an earthquake or might never experience one.
Whatever your situation everyone should be prepared and know how to deal with one.
An earthquake detector can be a useful home safety device because it alerts you to a
quake some seconds before it happens. The device involves design and development
for the earthquake detection which will be highly helpful for the residents in the
barangay for promoting preparedness or alertness and saving lives. It is a
representation of an innovative approach in construction of an earthquake
warning and alert system. This may help in reducing the effects of future
earthquakes.

We chose to propose this product since the regulation in the barangay we are
going to work for is all good and we think that preparedness for an earthquake needed
more attention nowadays. Especially, many buildings are constructed in areas of
earthquake risk and also earthquakes are consecutively happening in different areas of
our country.
