ABSTRACT
Nursing Care for Mrs. R with Pneumonia
in Women’s Ward at Sabang Regional Public Hospital

Pneumonia is the process of inflammation of the lung parenchyma which

is usually associated with increased fluid in alvioli. This disease is one of the
respiratory infections that often causes death almost all over the world. In 2018,
the number of patients with pneumonia reached 158,170 (RI Ministry of Health,
2019). This scientific paper aims at carrying out nursing care comprehensively
through the process of assessment, data analysis, formulation of diagnoses,
intervention, implementation and evaluation of results. The design employed is a
case report model with the subject of individual case reports carried out in
Women's Ward at Sabang Regional Public Hospital from 16 to 18 April 2019. The
data is collected through interviews, observations, physical examination,
documentation studies with clinical nursing care assessment instruments. Nursing
diagnoses found are the ineffectiveness of airway clearance associated with
increased sputum, nutritional imbalance-less than the body requirements related to
nausea and vomiting, and activity intolerance associated with weakness. Nursing
plans set to overcome the problems are placing the patient into comfortable
position (semi fowler), identifying factors that affect nausea vomiting, helping the
patient to do her activities, and monitoring the vital signs every two hours. Most
of the nursing action plans have been implemented. The evaluation results show
that three problems are resolved. Health workers are expected to consider the
importance of applying consistent nursing care and in accordance with theory in
providing nursing care for patients so that the patients get holistic and
comprehensive care.
