This Is Me

“This Is Me” is all about standing up for yourself, being proud of who you are,

accepting yourself with all your deformities and insecurities. And, yes, loving yourself

even when there’s nobody else around you who love you back. Marxist Criticism it is

concerned with differences between economic classes and implications of a capitalist

system, such as the continuing conflicts between the low class and the elite. Like in the

song this is me the characters are being criticized because of their unusual appearance

that makes them different from others. They are being attacked and harassed by others

who thinks that they are not belong to their society because they think they are

disgraced to humanity. That’s why this song entitled ``This Is Me’’ is about stepping out

from the shadow, not shyly, hesitantly, cautiously, but bravely, boldly and proudly. The

song shouts out that they are they meant to be that even if the sharpest words will

continue to attack them they will not let them break them to dust because they know in

their own that they are glorious and beautiful whatever they look like. That’s why the

song stated that whatever trials the characters will face they will stay strong and bruise

because they are who they meant to be. The first part of the song might state that they

are still scared because of the society don’t accept them. But as the song goes by they

learn to appreciate themselves and just accept and love it because that is what they are

and no one can change it. They march through the streets with proud, through all the

protestors telling them to go back to their circus home and perform. Because they know

that the world may deride them. But they should never deride themself or see themself

as anything other than blessed to be who they are, doing what they do, doing what they

want as long as no one is hurt.

We can’t change who we are but we can change what we feel about

ourselves and our place in the world. And proudly say that this is me!!! “This Is Me” is a

message for the ages. It’s a message for all of us. It’s a message for the world.

Just because people are different, it doesn’t mean they need to be abused, marginalized

or crushed under our heel. They are who they are and we need to accept them for that.
