- 2b) If you want to use slower, heavier hitting weapons:

Scaling will eventually outshine weapons that are OP at first. Claymore will
do more damage than BKS (not to mention it has much better moveset), Zweihander
will do more damage than BKGS, etc. On TOP of that, those weapons are also
buffable, making them far more viable for end-game.
- zweihander + Greatshield of Artorias = a walk in the park
- Parry
- hand a balck knight great axe, strongest attack in the game with the correct
stats. good move set, long reach.
- Moonlight Greatsword. Hits hard, has a good moveset, has a ranged attack. Plus
does pure magic damage, so you can lay on the hurt through most enemies' shields

So to all my fellow duders, if you have not yet made a pure Sorcerer, I beg you to
try it. You won't have a decent weapon for a long time (Velka's Rapier is my
choice) but you honestly don't need it when the most basic of spells 1 shot every
enemy and you carry 60 of them from the start.

INT BUILD:
1. https://www.giantbomb.com/forums/dark-souls-6255/sorcery-or-how-i-learned-to-
stop-worrying-and-love-533893/

2. After at least 10 runs I can confirm that INT build is the easiest for PvE.

Start from getting 16STR and 14 DEX.

You need 16 STR for Eagle Shield +15 - the best PvE shield in the game.
14DEX is optional but gives access to many weapons - including bows. I like to use
elemental Great Scythe.

After that try to get 30VIT, 40END and 16ATT.

Don't boost INT early as there is no good spells until much later.
Boost your pyromancy instead. Get fire +15 and then ascend +5.
Chaos fireball and great combustion is good boss killer. Just get sorcery ring and
head gear to boost damage of all spells.

You can start boosting INT when you get access to big hat logan spells. Later try
to get moonlight spear and sword.
Moonlight spear makes the game very easy.

Armor: the heaviest you can use for bosses. Stone armor get be collected early
just after first bell. Other than bosses you don't need armour if you a spear user.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
40 or 45 int is good enough, the spell that requires 50 int is garbage. For PvE,
the casting speed bonuses from dex aren't that big of a deal. How much dex and str
you want are for the weapon requirements and how much melee you intend to do. If
melee is just for taking out easy enemies, backstabs and parries then you won't
need more than a rapier, take it to +10 and if you are happy with it, make it
lightning.

Is DkS new for you or are you just trying out sorcery because you've done quality,
dex, faith, etc.? The reason I ask is that if you are comfortable with the game
already then you'll probably know what you are happy with for vitality and
endurance, armor, rolling speed, etc. You will not need to use the FaP ring, in
fact you won't want it because you are going to be using both ring slots for other
stuff. You'll be wearing the Crown of Dusk too.

If you can live with low endurance and vitality until later in the game then push
your intellect to 45 ASAP.

How many attunement slots you need depends partly on how much pyro you will be
using. 19 (5 slots) is good enough, 23 (6 slots) is better assuming you have your
endurance and vitality at comfortable levels.

spoilers…

The key sorcery weapons are the Moonlight Butterfly Horn and the Moonlight
Greatsword. These are pure magic damage so they will be almost useless in Duke's.

Usually, Quelaag's Furysword is the weapon you want for there and to supplement
your lightning rapier and magic weapons. That will require 11 str, 13 dex. Get some
curved weapon early, upgrade it to +10, and convert it when you get to anor londo
bs when you'll also be making your Moonlight Butterfly Horn. You can buff the
curved sword with resin and magic weapon as you are progressing until it is
converted.

The Horn you will get first and is your "poke" weapon while you are safely behind a
shield; you'll need 12 str and 14 int to wield it and you can get it as soon as you
get to Anor Londo. If you know the game I would just do gargoyles, hydra (to then
free Dusk), moonlight butterfly, quelaag, iron golem and skip everything else, get
to the anor londo bs, downgrade the lightning spear to a +10 spear and creat the
horn. The Moonlight Greatsword, which requires 16 str (1-hand), 11 str (2-hand), 10
dex, 28 int is your next weapon and it is important to be ready to suicide at Seath
if your co-op helpers are killing Seath too quickly before you have the tail
chopped.

--------------------------------------------------------------------
There are a few counterintuitive things about playing a sorcerer from the ground up
in pve.

One is that you are generally much better off keeping your int levels at the
minimum needed to cast the best damage spell you currently have access to, versus
raising them to endgame levels right away. Early game, it's best to stay 16 int and
use the oolacile ivory catalyst. When you get Logan, it's best to raise int to 36
(for soul spear) and switch to the sorcerer's catalyst/beatrice's catalyst at that
point. Once you've saved Logan a second time, it's then good to raise to 44 for
crystal soul spear.

The reason for this is because the catalysts you have access to at any one time
give optimal scaling that's more or less exactly in line with the int requirements
of the best spells you have access to. The oolacile catalyst has a fixed magic
adjust that's equal to the sorcerer's catalyst at about 27 int, but it's a long
time before you get spells that require anything more than 16 int to cast, so you
might as well stay at that level and invest in other stats. By the time you can get
soul spear, the sorcerer's catalyst is strongest at the int level required to cast
it, but it doesn't get significantly stronger past that level. Shortly after
getting crystal soul spear, you can get access to logan's catalyst, which maxes out
its good scaling at 45 int.

For pve, the best sorcery spells are homing (crystal) soulmass, (crystal) soul
spear, and dark bead. White dragon breath is great against regular enemies but it's
not significantly better than just using a weapon, and not really worth the extra
int investment needed to get it. Logan's catalyst is better to use than the tin
crystal catalyst in virtually every situation; the extra damage from tcc just isn't
worth the halved spell casts. For a similar reason, pursuers is not nearly as good
as hcsm. Great combustion, fire tempest, and power within also compliment sorcery
very well in pve.

Dark Souls PvP Build (Mystic Knight):
Class: Sorcerer
SL 120

Stats:
Vitality: 47
Attunement 19 (5 Slots)
Endurance 40 (to be able to use Equipment Setup below, Ninja-Roll and have max
stamina)
Strength 16 (to be able to use Enchanted Claymore +5)
Dexterity 11 (Base)
Resistance 8 (Base)
Intelligence 50
Faith 8 (Base)

Right Hand 1:
Enchanted Claymore +5

Right Hand 2:
Logan's Catalyst/Tin Crystallization Catalyst (the latter being for PvP)

Left Hand 1:
Silver Knight Shield +5 or Grass Crest Shield (the latter if you're gonna two-hand
the Enchanted Claymore +5 )

Left Hand 2:
Parrying Dagger/whatever you want/nothing.

Armor:
Full Paladin Set +5 (same defense as Full Havel, lightweight and cool looking).

Alternate, more lightweight Armor:

Xanthous +5

Rings:
Dark Wood Grain Ring
Ring of Favor and Protection

Attunement Slots:
Crystal Soul Spear = 1
Crystal Homing Soulmass = 1
Crystal Magic Weapon/Shield = 1
White Dragon Breath = 1
Chameleon or any other Spell from Dusk of Oolacile (i use Chameleon just for fun) =
1
=
5

As the name (Mystic Knight) suggests, this Build is a Knight/Sorcerer hybrid. The
Sorceries are merely a backup. The good part is the Enchanted Claymore+5.

You ask why I went with a 50-Int Build and Enchanted Claymore +5 instead of with a
Vit/End Build and a Lightning/Fire/Chaos Claymore?
Because the next Patch will (has been confirmed) improve Stat Scaling (which for
Enchanted Claymore +5 is E/E/A/-, so it's gonna get stronger), and PROBABLY going
to nerf Elemental Weapons too, so Enchanted/Occult +5 Weapons with 50 Int/Fai will
outdamage fully-leveled Elemental Weapons. So I just wanted to be safe. And this
build isn't too different than the other Build (Vit/End) i earlier mentioned, as
this one still has 46 Vitality and 40 Endurance, which is alot for a Mage-type
Character.

A +15 Claymore with Crystal Magic Weapon will outdamage an Enchanted +5 Claymore,
but i prefer the latter, because i don't want to have to cast CMW every minute to
make the weapon strong. You can have both however, but keep in mind there is only
one Claymore per Playthrough.

The 2 Rings are just enough to make you Ninja-Roll with this awesome (IMO)
Equipment Setup and have a lot of Stamina and HP, but for PvP if you want to use
Hornet Ring instead of Ring of Favor and Protection, for example, you can put more
points into Endurance at the expense of less in other Stats (Vitality and
Attunement for example) or you can change the Equipment Setup a bit. It's all up to
you, this is just a Template. For example, if you want to wear Silver Knight Shield
+5 in Left Hand 1, Grass Crest Shield in Left Hand 2 and switch between them mid-
battle, you can put 42 points into Endurance, at the expense of 44 in Vitality or
16 in Attunement (16 in Attunement is the minimum for 4 Slots, so in this case you
have 1 free Point) or equip the Xanthous Glove +5. You can also put 1 more point
into Dexterity and use an Enchanted Short Bow +5.
