 Looking Ahead...
As you can see, the theme of 2019 was growth. With this amazing growth we have also
reached capacity for many of our programs including Summer Camp & Retreats. Over
the last 2 years, Canaan has had a significant waitlist for Summer Camp. We want all
children to experience the message of Christ’s love and salvation. Because of this, our
goal in 2020 is to expand the capacity of our facilities which in turn means more souls
coming to Christ!

Enclosing Basketball Court for 2020

Our next goal would be to enclose our Basketball Court. Once we build our new cabin, we
will need a location to feed our new guests! This will be a mixed use facility including a
larger dining hall and sports complex. Meals will now be cooked on sight in this facility!

New Cabin

Our next goal is to construct a new cabin! This will help us nearly double our capacity for
both Summer Camp & Retreats. Some of the features will include:
3,000 SF of living space, 65 beds, 15 showers, 15 sinks and a common area for relaxation.
 How you Can Help
One of our goals at Canaan has been to stay debt free. In 2017 we reached our goal of
becoming completely debt free and we have been so ever since. The completed
projects you’ve seen in this update including the Welcome Center, Covered Basketball
Court and also Lake Canaan were funded by our operating budget and donors. We could
not have grown the camp to where it is today without these donors. With that being
said, as we look to continue to expand Canaan, we will once again need your help to
reach our goals.

Sadly, due to the record flooding of 2019 which damaged many areas of our island (Praise
the Lord, all the buildings were spared!) our operating budget was nearly depleted. After
repairs and having to cancel Week One of Summer Camp, we lost over $125,000. We’d
like to thank the many individuals and businesses that have already made donations
which helped us open Summer Camp 2019 and helped us make it through the year.
