1. Explore the new service by Google – Google Shopping.

It’s an exciting time to be an online merchant. Marketing channels abound. New ways to target,
reach, and woo potential buyers pop up all the time. It’s also a time filled with obstacles.
Competition is fierce. Customer expectations for shopping experiences are high. Technology
has leveled the playing field in some ways, and consolidation has given big advantages to
giants like Amazon.
Google Shopping is a service by Google that allows users to search and compare a range of
products online. Google Shopping is now a must have for online retailers. By utilising both
Google AdWords and Google Merchant center, eCommerce businesses can now put their
products in front of potential customers as soon as they begin their search.

Google Shopping ads appear in search results just like standard ads. However, the key
difference is that the ads show specific products from online businesses. Product information
such as the product name, price, colour, size, availability as well as a picture of the product are
now shown. Google Search users who see these ads can directly purchase the product straight
from Google search results. These results are normally shown in a special shopping box
integrated into regular results, which also shows a “Sponsored” disclaimer.

Unless stated otherwise, your shopping ads will direct users to your eCommerce store.
However, it is possible to include products shown in brick-and-mortar stores by participating in
Local Inventory Ads. To do this, you will need to submit a ‘Local Products’ feed within the
Google Merchant Center.
Regular optimization will be required to successfully run a shopping ad that delivers great

developing your list of negative keywords, making bid adjustments by audience, time, device,
etc.
