G. Tinsot ‘ceived 230712005) ABSTRACT. A Similarity Analysis i made of the steady, ‘hree-dimensional, laminar boundary layer flow of non ‘Newtonian vids. The main aspect of the present paper i ‘demonstrate that under certain conditions the generalized ‘mensional analysis can also be made applicable to abtan the similarity solutions of non-Newtonian fluids. The imporant ‘conclusion drawn from cis analysis is that, der weneralized ‘Simensional technique the similarity sohutiona can be found for ‘allnon-Newtonian fluids; characterize by the property that its shearing stress canbe elated tothe re of sainby an arbitrary Continuous finetion: except for uesteady flows for witch sinilaity solution exits only for Newtonian ids KEY WORDS. Under the impact of both academic and practieal necessity considerable effort has ‘beenexpanded recently towards ing the simitarity solutions of differential equations ‘of motion fornon-Newtonian fluids. These similarity solutions play an important role in investigating the non-Newtonian effects especially inthe boundary layer flows. In ‘dition to the fact that itis the only class of exact solutions for the governing, differential equations i serves also asa reference check the approximate solutions However, these solutions have limitations in cases of boundary layer flows as it cists forthe limit case of velocities atthe edge ofthe similarity analysis. 387 VIMS 5(2) (2005) (Manisha: Patel and MG.
