Monday morning circle The Shape Monster Flannel Story

- The teacher tells the story to the students. After the story, repeat and have them remember the character and shapes.
- In pairs or groups the students will retell the story Student A: Shape monster, shape monster, munch munch munch Student B: How about a red circle for your lunch.
(Continue the story or students switch roles).
Language/Vocabulary/ Phonics Orange, black and white

- Play “Snap it!”. On the floor, 2-3 students snap the picture that the teacher says loud the word. The student’s hand stays on the picture then he/she says the word heard.
Teacher: Spider, snap it! Student: snaps the picture and says “spider”

- Do a fashion show or go around the school area/ground to do a parade (join with the other Vietnamese or Bilingual Classes)
- The teachers can group them in the same characters like all Spiderman, all Batman, all princesses, all Elsa, etc. Have them know and talk to each other. Then the teachers
sing or play enthusiastic or dancing songs.

etc.)
- Make a handprint spider using black paper/board or black paint. Each student, with the help of the teacher, places two hands on a black paper/board forming the image of
a spider. The teacher traces the hands by pencil then cuts the black paper/board. OR The student dips his/her hands on black paint then places his/her hands on a white paper.
The teacher can be more creative adding spider web, googly eyes, smiling mouth, handprint ghost, mini spiders, etc.

- Teach the students 10 vocabularies of vegetable flashcards
- The child uses her/his hand to create a “munching mouth”, by moving thumb and fingers together in a munching motion. Each student chooses & gets vegetable flashcards
with his/her “munching” hand, says “I like to munch pumpkins”, “I like to munch carrots”, “I like to munch tomatoes”…….
Language/Vocabulary/ Phonics Card upside down

- Show each of the vegetable flashcard upside down to the class, ask them what it is.
- The teacher calls a student to answer. Invite him/her to go to you.

Phát triển thể chất - The class sits in a circle. Use 1 hat and say the poem “Hat song”. The teacher gives the hat to one student then says the poem. The chosen student practices to put on/take
off the hat. He/she gives the hat to another student (teacher recites the poem or together with the students)
- Practice each child to put on and take off the hat in a normal position or inverted position. Then the students can do in pair or groups.

answer their own then use the feelings from the song.
- In pairs the students practice greetings. For example: A: How are you today? B: I’m happy . And you? A: I’m great .

- Wash the students’ ears by water or wet cloth. Gently clean students’ ears using cotton buds. Afterwards ask each student if he/she can listen better.

- Demonstrate to the students how to be a flying bat, floating ghost, stomping monster, rolling pumpkin, falling leaf, flying witch…
- Line the children up on one side of the room. Have them move across the room as if they are flying bats, floating ghosts, stomping monsters, rolling pumpkins, falling
leaves, flying witches etc.
Language/Vocabulary/ Phonics Picture hunting

- Scatter pictures on the floor or stick on the wall

- Ex. Teacher: “Candle”. All students find the “candle” picture then give it to the teacher. Make the student repeat the word & ask others to identify it again.
