RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

Research Design

This study utilized the quantitative, descriptive correlational method. Quantitative

and Qualitative methods emphasize objective measurements and the statistical,

mathematical, or numerical analysis of data collected through polls, questionnaires, and

surveys, or by manipulating pre-existing statistical data using computational techniques.

The correlation method is used in this research since it is intended to investigate

the correlation between the variables (Arikunto, 2007). The degree of correlation

between two variables is classified in the form of correlation coefficient. This is also

supported by Creswell (2012) opinion that correlation research design, investigators use

the correlation statistical test to describe and measure the degree of association or

relationship between two or more variables or sets of scores.

Research Setting

The study was conducted in Misamis Oriental General Comprehensive High

School and focuses only on the Senior High School Students.

Research Respondents

The respondents of the study were One Hundred (100) randomized samples of

Grade 11 and 12 students of Accountancy, Business and Management (ABM),

Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMMS), and Sports Track.

Research Instruments
Students will be given a questionnaire to be answered. Questions given are all

about the Absenteeism in Relation of Students Academic Performance. and if possible

(Do not use “if possible”, you either conduct an interview or not) An interview will

also be conducted to add more details on the reasons of students for such absences.

By understanding the Absenteeism in Relation of Students Academic Performance,

interventions can be implemented that would minimize these behaviors’ leading to

improved outcomes for the students with many absenteeism cases.

Data Gathering Procedure

The researchers will forward a formal letter to ask for consent to the Teachers

of Misamis Oriental General Comprehensive High, School Senior High to gather data

from the selected students of Grade 11 and 12 Senior High School. The researchers will

also send a letter to the students asking for their participation in the study.

Questionnaires will be handed out to the students and data collection shall commence.
Statistical Treatment of Data

In analyzing the problem statement, descriptive summary statistics such as

frequency and percentage are used to study and interpret the data gathered from the

survey questionnaires.
