About the Awards
To incentivize the key stakeholders in the highway construction and maintenance process, Ministry
of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) intends to recognise and award agencies for the best
performing road assets and toll plazas across the country. This is part of the larger objective of
strengthening and augmenting the road infrastructure in the country, which is a top priority of our
government.
Recognising companies, who are performing exceptionally and delivering finest quality services
during construction, operations, tolling and maintenance stages of the highway project, would
encourage all companies in the sector to improve the quality of service.
The Annual Road Awards are designed across five categories to identify the niche players, who
have adhered to construction and operational guidelines, upheld high quality and safety standards,
and employed innovation and sustainable practices in their work. The five categories as follows: the
first category, Excellence in Construction Management acknowledges efficient use of resources
along with finest quality standards and smooth execution of all milestones of the project. The second
category, Excellence in Operation & Maintenance recognises projects with swift and smooth
execution of maintenance works, inspections and unparalleled quality in riding experience. The third
category, Best Toll Plaza focuses on automation and efficient management of traffic and services at
the plaza. The fourth category, Safe Highwayackowledges commendable work done to reduce road
casualties and establish preventative safety measures and emergency response services. The last
category, Innovationfocuses on significant achievement in devising or adapting a new construction
technology or structural and geometric design.
The best performers would be selected based on multiple rounds of rigourous assessment.
Detailed, category-specific evaluation frameworks have been developed for this assessment.The
companies would nominate themselves on an online portal by uploading the project information and
documents specific to the award category. In the first round, the validatity and propriety of the
submitted data would be verified and evaluated by trained officials. This would be followed by the
second round, which involves an on-site inspection of the shortlisted applicants. The finalists would
present to an expert jury panel in the third round. The final winners would be endorsed by MoRTH.
Objective
1. To recognise companies which are performing exceptionally and delivering finest quality
services during construction, operations, maintenance and tolling phases of the highway
project
2. To incentivize and encourage key stakeholders in the highway sector to improve the
quality of their services
3. To create an ecosystem of continuous improvement and take a step towards the larger
goal of strengthening and augmenting the road infrastructure industry in the country

Selection Process
Entries in each category would go through 2 intensive rounds of assessment and would be
adjudged by a panel of expert judges consisting of subject matter experts and renowned
academicians
Application Guidelines
1. Prior to starting the nomination process, candidates are strongly advised to check the
Eligibility Checker on the nomination portal to confirm the categories for which their project
is eligible.
2. Same login ID may be used for multiple nominations.
3. All the information must be filled out in English.
4. The information and documents provided by the applicant must be accurate and valid.
5. The documents must only be submitted in the specified format: PDF for reports and other
correspondence documents, JPEG or PNG for images. Any electronic document in MS
Word or similar format must be converted to PDF format for submission. Documents
submitted in any file format or as compressed files (ZIP, RAR, etc) will not be considered.
6. The documents will more than one page must be scanned and submitted as a single file.
7. The scanned documents and images must be clear and legible with good resolution.
8. Each document must be within the prescribed file size limit: Reports and other
correspondence documents: 20 MB, images: 200 KB.Files exceeding the limit will not be
accepted on the application portal.
9. Upload a signed undertaking that all the information shared in the application and
documents have been verified by Authority Engineer/ Independent Engineer and
approved by the concerned Regional Officer/ Project Director.

General Terms & Conditions
1. The Annual Road Awards 2018 are restricted to only national highways projects which are
granted by MoRTH, NHAI and NHIDCL.
2. The awards are project-specific. A company may nominate one or more projects in all
eligible categories.
3. All applications are advised to carefully review the eligibility criteria and nominate their
respective projects accordingly. Ineligible applications will not be considered. Candidates
are strongly advised to check the Eligibility Checker on the nomination portal to confirm
the categories for which their project is eligible.
4. No entries sent via email or post will be accepted.
5. All applications must be submitted within the nomination period. Any application submitted
after the deadline (via offline or online mode) will not be accepted under any
circumstances.
6. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
7. All information provided by the applicant must be accurate. Any discrepancy found in the
information provided at any stage will lead to a direct disqualification from the selection
process.
8. Applications must be accompanied with all relevant documents. Submission of irrelevant

or wrong documents will negatively impact the assessment process and the scores
assigned to the nominated project.
9. The final results announced at the end of the selection process will be final and binding,
and subject to no further delibration or review. The awards are non-transferable.
