Film Title: ‘The Banker’

Introduction

‘The Banker’ is a drama series that is based on the Japanese manga “Kansayaku Nozaki Shuhei”
written by Ryouka Shuu and illustrated by “Shigeru Noda” between 1998 and 2002. The series was
produced in Korea and was aired between March and May of 2019. The main roles are starred by Kim
Sang Joong (Noh Dae Ho), Chae Shi Ra (Han Soo Ji), Yoo Dong Geun (Kang Sam Do, the bank president),
and Kim Tae Woo (Lee Hae Gon). It is a very interesting drama with great acting on the part of the casts.
The Banker has a well-paced storyline, with a well-done main character progression. The story is thought
provoking and I love how the protagonist is able to win his battles by fixing many smaller issues which
ultimately leads to fixing the whole problem.

Plot Summary

The story revolves around an honest banker, No Dae Ho, the main character, who is promoted to
an auditor position at Daehan Bank, where he previously worked as the bank manager. Daehan Bank is
on the verge of being shutdown but No Dae Ho got promoted. Then, he was transferred to the bank’s
headquarters in Seoul where he faces the looming corruption at the bank, with financial authorities
battling over money and power.

Description

This drama series has an intricately webbed plot and a very interesting storyline. It makes the
viewers eager to wait for the next episodes after watching one because of how exciting the story is. This
drama will make you realize how difficult it is to be in such a situation, in this case, Noh Dae Ho’s situation
as a banker. This drama is not far from what is currently happening these days, not only in Korea, but in
any part of the world, not only in banks, but also in other institutions. No Dae Ho’s being sincere and
having a strong personality as an auditor is very inspiring. In real life, it takes so much to be like him.
Another interesting character in the story is President Kang. His manipulative character and as someone
who seeks power to achieve his goals make the story more suspenseful and mysterious. He depicts not
exactly but a good example of how bank misconducts occur.
