We often find that the pesantren financial management in rural areas is quite
weak. This is due to the centralized leadership of the pesantren clerics. This study
aims to study the values of Islamic leadership in improving the financial
management of rural pesantren.
This type of research is descriptive qualitative with subjects consisting of
boarding school caregivers, chairman of the foundation, and the treasurer of the
foundation as well as families of boarding school caregivers with sampling
techniques. For data collection, we will use interview, questionnaire and
observation techniques.
After the researchers conducted a research, it was found that the existence of
financial governance in rural boarding schools in Indonesia, not all of them
understand modern financial management in accordance with modern scientific
concepts. However, researchers found another concept of governance namely
Islamic boarding schools based on the concepts of Islamic leadership values or the
characteristics of the Prophet Muhammad in daily activities, such as the
application of STAF (SHIDDIQ, TABLIGH, AMANAH, FATHONAH).
From the results of this study it can be concluded that the creation of the concept
of pesantren financial governance which is influenced by the values of Islamic
leadership will certainly provide new knowledge to boarding school
administrators about how to manage pesantren finances in accordance with
Islamic teachings.
