Hello, my fellow Filipinos, my name is Dean Angelo P. Gonzaga.

I am running for
president. You might be saying to yourself: “Is Dean Angelo qualified to lead us as a
president?” I have several great reasons why you should vote for me. I am persistent,
and I always put all my energy into everything I do no matter how long it takes. I always
finish what I start doing. I am a compassionate leader and promise to listen to your
opinions before making decisions.

To begin with, I want to talk about the issue of bullying and peer pressure. It is all
around us, everyone bullies, no matter what you think or have done, you’ve most likely
bullied someone. There are many issues in the news that involve bullying and bad
things that happen, as well as people being affected from people bullying them. Bullying
is happening everywhere and the chances that you will encounter it are high. Around
the world bullying is big particularly within schools and online in cyber space.

Can you guys imagine for me a little boy, with the oversized T-shirt and hat and
bag waddling down to these massive school gates, he was full of anticipation, wonder,
happiness, excitement, motivation and courage. He seems like a little boy with an
extremely bright future doesn’t he! Little did he know he wouldn’t stay that way for very
long. From the minute he walked into those gates, from the minute he spoke to the first
person he was instantly targeted and he didn’t know why. He didn’t ask for it and he
didn’t do anything to deserve it. He became the center of every fight, and every hateful
word. He was told he was worthless he was told to end his life he was told he was
nothing he was told that he shouldn’t try because he’s a failure and he could never
achieve anything, he was told he was fat and ugly and annoying and stupid. This boy
was 6 years old! Yet these words and actions left a very distinct imprint in his mind for
years.

I’m going to level with you I hate bullying and I will do everything I possible can to
prevent it from being a common occurrence. People share my view on this topic and
believe it should be one of the main priorities to monitor, but I didn’t start believing what
I do because everyone else did or because I witnessed it happen. I experienced it, I was
a victim. I want to talk to you about what bullying is, its effects and some of my story
hopefully leaving you guys with both a little more insight into myself and a little more
insight as to what it is and preventing it. The government should have programs that is
comprehensive, multi-faceted, and shall have involves preventing bullying.

On the other hand, let’s talk about peer pressure. Everyone knows the old
saying, "If all your friends were going to jump off a bridge, would you jump too?" It
usually invokes an eye roll, but the fundamental issue is one that almost everyone faces
at some time: how to deal with peer pressure. Young people especially may struggle to
cope with varying forms and degrees of peer pressure—whether it's keeping up with
middle school fashion trends or being subjected to hazing in a fraternity house. Peer
pressure can be a powerful force, but fortunately, increased awareness has led to
numerous resources to help students, parents and educators manage it effectively.
Learn more about how peer pressure is manifested—and how to face it.

Peer pressure is a similar character to the idea of conformity. It occurs when an

individual feels as though they need to do the same things as people their own age or in
their social group to be liked or accepted. To gain that affinity and respect, some
individuals will do things they don't feel they should or things that they might not feel
ready for, in order to fit in and be like those around them. This plays out in a variety of
situations, from bullying on the school playground to drinking too much in college. The
negative peer pressures can make a person feel bad about the things they are doing,
even as they continue doing them as a way to feel connected to their peers.

Again, if I would be the president of this country, I will make sure that these kinds
of issues that we are facing today will be resolve not only by me but also the help of all
people in this country. So let us take actions that will make people happy, healthy and
have positive set of minds in the next generations.
