B. Family Structure

The structure of the Family is Extended Family, J.A. is living with the family of Tatay F.N. her
grandfather. Nanay V.A. verbalized “Taga dito ang pamilya ko (neighbor with her siblings), yung asawa
ko naman e taga Ilocos talaga” when asked about the family according to residence.

C. Dominant Family Members (Decision making with Health Matters)

When it comes to Family Health Decision, Aunt M. X. said “Dapat both sides kasi mayroong
Financial Matter na kasama yan”. She said that when a Health problem arises the family is involved to
the decision making.

D. General Family Relationship

Objective

Nanay V.A. is seen cooking their meal and Tatay F.N. is often seen in chopping woods and
cleaning their compound. J.A. was not seen during the homevisits.

Subjective

“Okay naman ang pamumuhay kasama ang apo” Nanay V.A said when ask about their life with
their grandchild. Nanay V.A verbalized “Same din sa pamumuhay kasama ang apo ko, payapa din yung
buhay naming noong andito pa yung mga anak namin” when asked about the relationship of the couple
with their children.

Nanay V.A. verbalized “Di ko sure ang mothly expenses naming sa bahay pero ang binabayaran
ko lang sa tubig is 400+ at 800+ naman sa kuryente” when asked about the total family expenses. When
asked about the things that the family spend the most Nanay V.A. said that food, bills, medicine and the
pocket money of their grandchild are their priority.

D. Ethnic Background and Religion

The family are Itawes and are all Roman Catholic.

E. Relationship of the family to larger community

Nanay V.A. verbalized “Sa mga kapatid ko kasi compound naman kami dito” when asked with
whom and where do they usually socialized. The family considers that they have enough time to
socialize. They are actively involved with the barangay program like fund raising during fiesta and etc.
Nanay V.A. said that the family considers the barangay as quiet and peaceful.

III. Home and Environment

Objective

The house is constructed 13 years ago with wood and concrete. The family’s house is a
bungalow, well-ventilated and lighted that makes the family comfortable staying in their household. The
family’s source of water for drinking is from the purified water being sold from the water station nearby,
they store it in a covered container and put it in their refrigerator. For the general usage of water the
family’s main source of water is from the faucet and use it for bathing, laundry and cooking. The family
uses gas stove and Firewood in cooking their food and covers their leftovers if there are any. The family
has 1 carabao that they use for farming. The family’s is using a water sealed toilet that is located inside
their house. The family uses sacks for their garbage, they follow and support the barangay ordinance to
properly segregate their garbage. The family has closed drainage in their household that leads to their
poso negra. The family does not own a transportation vehicle.

Subjective

Nanay V.A. said that the family considers the flood as the risk present in their environment,
because when the flood reaches their home they have to put their things in a safer place. Nanay V.A.
also said that the family is at ease because they can see that there are barangay police roaming around
the neighborhood.
IV. Health Status of each Member

A. Nutrition and Medications

Nanay V.A. stated that their usual meal is mainly compose of vegetable, meat and rice. The family
also stated that they eat 3 meals a day they seldom eat snacks in between. When asked who buys or
help the food their going to eat Nanay V.A. said that she is the one buying and preparing their food. The
family stated that they only eat on restaurants 1-2 a month. When asked about the time they usually
eat, Nanay V.A. verbalized:

Breakfast: “6:30 am yung apo ko, 7:30 naman kami ng asawa ko kasi manggagaling pa kami sa
bukid”
Lunch: “Kapag larga na yung mga bata 11:30 kami kumakain”
Dinner: “7 naman kami kumakain kapag gabi”
Nanay V.A. verbalized “ako 9 glasses, yung apo ko siguro 6 glasses tapos yung asawa ko e 10 glasses
naman” when asked about the amount of water the family usually drink. Nanay V.A. said that his
husband drinks occasionally and smokes half pack a day, Nanay V.A. stated that her husband started this
when he was 20 years old. Nanay V.A. said that they are taking Quantumine as their food supplement.

B. Health Status

Tatay F.N. – has no degenerative, chronic or infectious disease at the present time.

Nanay V.A. – has no degenerative, chronic or infectious disease at the present time. Did not have
any complication during pregnancy

J.A. - He has no degenerative, chronic or infectious disease at the present time. Hospitalized when
she was 7 years old in CVMC because of UTI.

V. Values, Belief, Practices on Health Promotion, Maintenance and Disease Prevention

A. Immunization

Nanay V.A. said that the family is complete with all their vaccines.

B. Health and Lifestyle

Nanay V.A. stated that they do exercise and taking of vitamins practice good hygiene everyday as
their practice to stay healthy. Nanay V.A. said that she go for checkup when needed in the barangay
while her husband doesn’t like to have checkup. Nanay V.A. verbalized “Kapag di mo na kaya dapat
magpatingin ka na” when asked about the family perception on health.

C. Adequacy of:
i. Rest and Sleep

Nanay V.A. stated that they usually sleeps 7 or 8 in the evening and wake up 3am for Tatay F.N., 4am
for Nanay V.A. and 5 in the morning for J.A. When asked if there are anyone in the family who have
difficulty in sleeping or waking up Nanay V.A said that there are no one in the family. Nanay V.A said
that they take a nap 30 minutes to 1 hour after around 2 pm.

ii. Activity Level and Exercise

Nanay V.A. said that their daily activity start at 3 in the morning because Tatay F.N. will head to the
farm while Nanay V.A will wake up at 4am to cook for their breakfast and after that heads to the farm to
help Tatay F.N. while J.A. will wake up at 5am. J.A. will go to school at 7am and the couple will come
home at 9 or 10 in the morning. Nanay V.A. verbalize “Strentching, walking at dancing everyday pero
kapag nanghihina mas mabuting magpahinga” when asked about the type of exercise the family do and
its hindrance.

iii. Use of Protective Measure

Nanay V.A said that they are using mosquito nets when sleeping and spray pesticide, they use
umbrella, long sleeves and wears slippers when going out but does not wear boots or slippers when
going to farm because they found it slippery, they wash hands their when they are going to eat, they
also use face mask sometimes and follow the proper waste segregation implemented by the barangay.

iv. Relaxation and Other Stress Management


Nanay V.A said that thinking too much is what stresses their family. When asked on how they relieve
their stress they ignore the stress until it’s gone. Nanay V.A stated that they watch television during
leisure time.

v. Use of Promotive – Preventive Health Services

Nanay V.A confirms that they utilized the health facilities near them. Nanay V.A also stated that she
is very satisfied with the health services given because they administered Anti-Rabies and health facility
gives free vitamins to them.
