1. Read/ study two novels (an African novel and an English novel) and analyse
them under the following subheadings:
(a) Setting
(b) Themes
(c) Character analysis
(d) Summary
(e) Which of the two novels is your preferred? Why?

2. Select TEN (10) uncommon words from each of the novels( making
TWENTY(20) words in all) and make a sentence with each of the words.

3. Do a research and present your findings in a type-written form on the


following: consider their features and how they could be written in an
examination situation
a. Different forms of a verb: e.g go: goes, went, has gone, is going, was
going, am going etc. do for twenty different verbs
b. Qualities of a good summary

c. Text structure

d. Sentence structure

e. Relative clause with examples in sentences

f. I. Simile ii. Metaphor iii Personification iv irony (all with examples).

g. Complex sentence and the use of Subordinators.
