Indifference

In the modern world, people stride to be healthy and live a long life in which they also

hope for others to be the same. While most people are not against vaccinations, some parents are

choosing to not vaccinate their children. Not vaccinating children is unsafe for the child and it

also puts others at risk.

Lots of the evidence surrounding the topic of vaccination, show that it is a extremely

effective way to keep someone safe from harmful diseases. When parents choose not to give

immunity to their children, they are putting them at risk for deadly illnesses which could have

easily been prevented. One of the most common reasons to not vaccinate children is that it gives

someone the disease of makes someone sick. While it does give someone the disease, it is giving

them the weakened form which is nearly impossible to contract anything from. Also, parents

claim that vaccines are linked to autism and they don’t want it to affect their kids. While this

claim has been disproven, a counterclaim can be created; would you rather your children have

autism or them contract a deadly, life-threatening disease?

When children who have not been vaccinated contract something, they are putting others

at risk who are not able to get the vaccination yet. Babies for example cannot receive many of

the vaccinations which therefore puts them at an increased risk due to their weak immune

systems.

Parents should be putting the lives of their children first before their feelings. Often time,

not vaccinating children is dangerous for their health and it can affect others around them. How

would you feel if your child died from a preventable disease?
