To write a good essay, you need to grab your reader’s attention with a strong introductory paragraph.
The recipe for an introductory paragraph is:
topic sentence + main points + concluding sentence
Giving your readers a sneak peek at the information in your essay will help make them want to read on.

Read the sentences below. These nine sentences belong to three different paragraphs.
Cut them apart and assemble them into the proper paragraph and order. Remember the
recipe: topic sentence + main points + concluding sentence.

- Have you ever wanted to cook a meal over a fire like people did long ago?

- These creatures of the land, sea and air draw me to the beach almost every week.

- With an adult’s help, you can learn to cook meals in a fireplace or over a campfire.

- I searched at the library, the bookstore and my best friend’s house, but didn’t find anything.

- I really wanted to find the perfect book to read on vacation.

- You can make soup, oatmeal, and even pancakes over a fire.

- You may go to the beach to swim and play in the sand, but once you’ve learned about these fascinating
creatures, you just may go for the wildlife!

- Amazingly, the perfect book was waiting for me--you will never guess where I found it!

- When I go to the shore, I like to bird watch, catch crabs, and explore the tide pools.
