What is the Philosophy of Education?

Teacher can mean many different things; putting your students first, actively listening,

seeing students for who they are, believing in them, and get to know how they learn best. I

believe that teachers should possess the following qualities of caring, being open minded,

responsible, and hardworking. Caring for a student can mean caring enough to give them the

help they need in class or caring about outside issues like making sure the student themselves is

okay. Education can be taken in many forms, like teaching people how to live in the world

through common and or educational knowledge. Each of these things are very important and I

think that they both need to be taught in the classroom for the student’s best interest. “Don’t let

what you cannot do interfere with what you can do.” (John Wooden). Your role as an educator is

to help your students grow.

In every classroom there will be a handful of students, those who will pick up material at

the expected pace and students who might have a harder time. As an educator it should be your

goal to reach out and meet the needs of all students. One on one conferencing is an amazing way

to get to know your students and find a pathway for them. Students will learn best when they feel

like the class is a welcoming environment and free to always ask for help.

The purpose of education is to help people learn the core education skills, but also how to

live. School is a wonderful place to help children and others discover themselves, but not every

child can do this if basic needs aren’t met. Children need to feel like they are safe when entering
class and when they are in school, they matter. To be an educator to me means to always put

your kids first and guide them. Life can get hard so be the one place they know will always

welcome them for who they are. Learning is important and should always be accessible to all

your students, so always be there to listen to them and help them meet their goals. Be the change

you want to see in your students to help them grow.

Educate todays children and help them fulfill all life has to offer them. Whether that

means extra math help or just checking in on them and seeing how life is. Always let your kids

know that they are free to be who they are and feel safe. Be the place the can go and feel happy

and appreciated. Every child deserves the same opportunities know matter how they get there,

never give up on them.
