topic research
Film a factual programme, animation and short film
on which I chose the topic. (knife crime)
I Have chosen knife crime because I feel it’s a very
strong topic for my target audience. I also feel making
these 3 productions may impact people involved in
knife crime. It also interest’s me so I shouldn’t find it
boring because I will be learning about something I
am interested in.
I have used many websites to create secondary
research and create facts and figures. I have also
done a focus group in which I asked 3 students there
opinion’s on knife crime.
I am all on track for this week as Max has just sent an
email to a first responder asking for an interview.
Nothing, just plan what questions I will ask the first
responder.

I have done more research and not just learnt about
facts and figures bur writing them into my phone so
we can put them into the end project.
To make it simple for everyone we are splitting the
jobs up with max finding the interviewer’s, Dave
writing questions that he will ask the interviewer’s and
me finding locations to film and getting the right b-roll.
I learnt how complex factual programmes are as it
isn’t just film your journey to an interview and then
that’s it. You have to find people that want to be
interviewed and make sure you have lots of b-roll and
other interesting footage.
Partially the first responder has said she has never
dealt with knife crime so Max has emailed a surgeon.

responder said they can’t do it.
This week you worked on your production
I found it helpful as when I needed to make it longer I
could get some b-roll and max talking about some
facts and figures to stretch it out.
The surgeon also said he’s never dealt with a knife
crim injury so as a last minute call we had to get a
friend that had been involved in knife crime and
someone else involved in knife crime so we have a
view from both ends a victim and a stabber.
We did not really have any issues, everything seemed
to run in our favour. There was some wind in the
interview but I managed to come over that in the
editing.
We worked well, when we had issues we worked
without stress on how to solve them. Such as when we
couldn’t find an interviewer so we all came together
to find two people without stressing or falling out with
each other.
Because we all lived very far from each other it was
very hard and expensive to meet so most of the work
was completed in lesson.
