Warren Buffett: The Life, Lessons, and Rules for success

Warren Buffett is one of the most prominent investors of the past century. Buffett was

born in 1930 and raised in Omaha, Nebraska. His father was seeking a spot in the U.S. Congress,

which led the entire Buffett family to Washington D.C, where Warren Buffet would live out his

formative years. Buffett graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1947, and his senior

quote said, “likes math: a future stockbroker.” At a very young age of six years old Warren

Buffett found ways to practice his entrepreneurial skills. He began selling Juicy Fruit Gum at

school for a $0.02 markup. It seems foolish, but there are always lessons and takeaways from

anything in life. In his book, Warren Buffett: The Life, Lessons, and Rules for Success, he relates

lessons from his early life, to use for success later in life. According to Buffett, he learned from

his early life that, “ You’re never too young to start, experience is the best teacher, saving is an

important skill to acquire, and initial setbacks can sometimes be a blessing in disguise.” The

lessons he takes from different parts of his life show he was a very self-aware person. Being

self-aware is something very important to being a leader. His experience as an amateur

entrepreneur helped him gain the knowledge to be a good leader in his future endeavors.

Buffett’s knowledge of business helped him become very good at recognizing potential in people

and companies. Lastly his great levels of production made him such a good leader for Berkshire

Hathaway.
