As a part of my report, I decide to meet Eng.

Vikram Govindarajan who have studied

Instrumentation, control and electronic engineering in Anna university (Tamil Nadu, south
India ). Eng. Vikram works as a Lead Project Engineer at Yokogawa Middle East and Africa,
Bahrain since 2007, which is the job I want to work in the future as I am studying Electronic
Engineering. On Tuesday the 8th of October 2019 at 12:30 pm the interview took place in
Yokogawa ( Sanad ). The interview was started by asking him about his studies and the
company he works in. To get information in sequence, the question was listed in order, so I
started by getting information from the past: his schooling, bachelor degree and if he took
any other certificate; the present: by asking him about his job and work routine and finally
the future of his industry and company. Eng. Vikram mentioned that I must earn a high GPA
in order to get the job I want to pursue in the future, and it require no experience if you
want to work in a company such as Yokogawa since the company offers training course in
the beginning for almost two to three years until you become ready to work. Mrs Vikram
mentioned that to become a successful Engineer you have to apply what you learnt in the
university, have a good knowledge and have the ability to learn new things. Also, he states
that you have to be ready to work under pressure, and you have to manage your time.
Moreover, he states that to become a lead engineer it is required to have leadership skills,
as you are going to administrate and control many projects for different countries around
the world. Additionally, you must be ready to work outside the work time if needed. Also,
you will have to double check all the works done by the other engineers instead of your own
work, for you will get the responsibility if any mistake found. In addition, he recommends
that to become a successful engineer you have to be updated by the studies and the new
invention by reading and searching. Also, you can join courses or summits, so it will help you
to improve your knowledge and gain more communication skills. However, he mentioned
that he dislikes the work timing as he need to work 9 hours daily. Also, he mentioned that as
an employee in Yokogawa he need to travel many time while he is working in a project since
most of the projects done by the company is for companies located outside Bahrain , so
they have to visit the site before and after working in the project. Eng. Vikram described the
environment of his work as social, friendly and they are always ready to help each other.
Also, he mentioned that if you are stacked and need any help you will find many employees
are always ready to help and answer any question you have. Eng. Vikram mentioned that
Yokogawa it is a Japanese based company leading in industrial automation. Eng. Vikram
states that the electronic industry authority is for the creation of new technology that all
consumers use nowadays, or they will be using it in the future. Also, he mentioned that all
the industries in the world needs an electronic engineer, so this will increase the chance of
getting a job. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Yokogawa have over 200 branches around the world, and Yokogawa’s strengths in field
instruments, safety systems, control systems, and production management systems which
offers you double chance to get a job. Whatever the project is huge and complex, the
engineer’s goal is to be “fit for purpose” and confirm seamless integration of management
systems and production processes. Yokogawa has industrialised strategy map for quite a
few purposes which are: minimizing the manufacturing cost and the time from parts
obtaining to manufacturing and shipment. There are various positions based on the
qualification and experience. For example, those who have diploma certificate or below in
electronic engineering will end up as an inspector or technician. However, as an electronic
engineer you will have to design, build and control or test applications, circuits and P&ID
(piping and instrumentation diagram). . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

The future of Yokogawa can be divided into political, economic, social and technology
factor. Firstly, in the technology sector, Yokogawa is always up to date and tries to make
programmes without debugging or issues. Also, they are working on an version for the
centum-vp ((Yokogawa system)) which can show the information in easier way, and control
the cabinet in a faster way; this project will almost apply in all Yokogawa branch by 2021 as
it was written in the website. Moreover, Dr. Tamisuke Yokogawa said, “you don’t need to
worry about profits. Just learn and improve our technology” which shows how important it’s
the technology sector in Yokogawa companies. Secondly, in term of social, Yokogawa will
resolve environmental and social issue in partnership through business activities with
customers. In addition, one of the main goals for Yokogawa in 2050 is Social, so in 2050

operations of their facilities and plans. Thirdly, another main goal for Yokogawa is economic,
where they make transition to circular economic. So, they it is expected by the coming years
to develop new renewable energy to control system, field instrument, manufacturing, KBC
insulating and more. However, Yokogawa purpose is to transition to circular economics,
which mean that they will make effective use of assets, and they will use resources deprived
of waste. . . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . .. . . . .. .
