Coding

The coding is necessary for the marking of the manufacturing dates and the other necessary
markings. The coder codes the marked price, date, time and batch no. details. The coding is very
much important for the detail information of the product to the customer and safe consuming of
the product.

On the basis of the principles of the working of the coder, the coders are broadly of following
types:

1. Continuous Ink Jet (CIJ)

2. Thermal Touch Over (TTO)
3. Thermal Ink Jet (TIJ)
4. Laser

The Continuous Ink Jet (CIJ) is used for the coding in Varun Beverages. The coding machines of
Dominos are used. In Continuous Ink Jet coding machine, the ink jet runs continuously and the
required coding is controlled by other mechanism.

Working Principle

The driving cam runs before the head solenoid. The gun body receives the ink from the ink carriage
through drive rod. A nozzle of about 60 micron is present on the nozzle plate to supply the ink jet.
The ink jet passes through the deflecting plates to the outer plate where the return line is present.
The sensor detects the presence of the bottles and the deflecting plates deflects the path of the
running ink jet to pass out through the outer plate nozzle and the codes get printed on the bottles
otherwise the ink returns to the in reservoir.
