1. Tally.ERP 9 Gold – Special Priced Edition

Tally.ERP 9 Gold is being made available to practicing ICAI members at a special price. You can find
further details below:

Note:
• As this is an ongoing program, most of the details related to it, apart from the discount margin, remain
same as earlier
• Prices are exclusive of GST
• Tally.ERP 9 Gold is a multi-user license
• One year of Tally Software Services comes free with every new license of Tally.ERP 9 Gold, applicable
from the date of activation
• The license is meant for exclusive use of approved Chartered Accountant. It is non-transferable in
nature
• 50% discount is applicable on Tally Software Services (TSS) renewals for all licenses purchased under
any special CA schemes from Tally. (Earlier, this was applicable only for AE licenses and not for the
packages purchased with 35% discount.)
• The partner’s earnings shall continue to be as per the existing commercial policy. The percentages of
margins shall be calculated on the new prices applicable.

* 80% discount on Tally.ERP 9 Gold is applicable for all full-time practicing CAs/CA firms for purchases made
before 31st March 2020, post which a 50% discount is applicable

+ 80% discount on Tally.ERP 9 Gold continues to be applicable, until further notice, for CAs setting up practice
newly (who have enrolled for practice on or after 1st January 2018) to encourage them in the beginning of
their professional journey

2. Eligibility Criteria to Procure Special Priced License
CA firms can procure Tally.ERP 9 Gold special priced license on meeting the following criteria:

• Proprietary or partnership firms approved by ICAI


• Validation of Firm Registration Number (FRN)
• One license for head office and one license for each branch office registered with ICAI can be procured

Individually practicing Chartered Accountants can procure Tally.ERP 9 Gold special priced license on
meeting the below criteria:

• Availability of a full-time Certificate of Practice (CoP) issued by ICAI


• Validation of Membership Number (MRN)
• One license for the CA, provided the CA is not a partner in any firm

Indicative list of who are not eligible for the special priced license:

• Branch office of a CA firm that is not registered with ICAI


• Branch offices of the proprietary CA firm that are registered as ‘Second office’
• Part-time practicing Chartered Accountants
• Non-practicing Chartered Accountants
• Full-time practicing Chartered Accountants who are partners in a proprietary or partnership firm are not
eligible for individual license based on their membership number
• CAs employed by a private concern
• A CA/CA firm who have already been issued a discounted license against their FRN/MRN under
previous special schemes
• Clients or customers of a Chartered Accountant

3. Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: Is the CA discount applicable for all the Tally products?
A: No. This discount is applicable only on purchase of Tally.ERP 9 Gold (multi-user) license and Tally Software
Services.

Q: CA firm has already procured a special priced license, but it is being used by one partner on the
laptop. Can the other partner procure another license?
A: No, unless the request is for another office which is registered as ‘Branch office’ with ICAI.

Q: CA firm has one head office and two ‘branch’ offices. How many licenses can be issued to this
firm?
A: Three in total, if the branch offices are registered with ICAI. One for the head office and one for each branch
office.

Q: Is the discount applicable for CAs associated with Limited Liability Partnership (LLP) firms?

A: As per the current process, CA discount scheme does not cover LLP firms. However, the CA can avail the
discount based on his/her Membership Number (MRN).

Q: Is an individual practitioner working under a private concern eligible for this offer?
A: If a CA is employed by a private concern, he/she will not be eligible for the discount. As per ICAI, a CA
holding full-time COP shall not be employed by any private concern.

Q: If a CA has quit the firm, is he/she eligible for a new license?


A: In case a CA quits from a firm and starts practicing individually or associates with a new firm as a
proprietor/partner, we validate on below points and accordingly approve the request for the purchase of new
license:
• Confirmation from the CA’s ex-firm will be taken
• CA’s current profile will be validated with ICAI records
• Based on the validation, corrections will be done in our records with the existing license and then CA will
be allowed to procure the license based on his Membership No. (MRN) / New FRN

Q: CA does not require the special priced license for his/her practice. Can he/she authorize
someone else to use their credentials to buy the license?
A: No. Tally.ERP 9 special priced license is exclusively meant for full- time practicing Chartered
Accountants and is non-transferable.

Q: If a firm has 2 branches with 4 CAs holding full-time COP, how many licenses are they eligible
for?
A: Discount is not provided based on the number of CAs in the firm, but on the number of branches
registered under ICAI.

Q: Can a CA purchase discounted licenses for clients?


A: No. This scheme is applicable only for practicing CAs and CA firms.

Q: Can a partner issue discounted license to CAs?


A: No. The license can only be purchased online.

Q: Is any partner involved in the purchase process as Sales Preferred Partner?
A: No. However, a CA can choose a partner while buying the license for an experience (installation,
assistance, training, etc.), for which experience lead will be generated and assigned to the partner.

Q: How can the preferred partner get status updates of the request?
A: Preferred partner can provide his/her email ID in the ‘Requester’s Email-ID’ field while filling the
online request. Requester’s email ID would get all updates that are sent to requesting CA.

4. Process to handle misuse of special priced licenses:

All the information/details entered by the CA during purchase will now, for the very first time, be verified by
connecting to the ICAI portal. The earlier process of manual verification of details has been discontinued, to make
the buying experience better and authentic.

There is also a process put in place to identify and handle misuse of license and apply correction, which you can
find below.

However, Tally reserves the rights to deactivate the license when misuse is found. This point is also explicitly
mentioned in the MOU between ICAI and Tally.

Process:

1. Identification
The exceptions will be identified and highlighted by the CIS team, which could fall under the categories below:
• Information Mismatch: Licenses where the business segment is not selected as professional
services/accounting in Customer Registration Form, or there is an error in the company name
• Unusual access of license: License being used at multiple locations and multiple IPs within same
day, or activated multiple times within 7 days
• Unusual activity on license: Unusually high number of actions on license in the same day
• Misuse of information/Missing information: MRN/FRN incorrect or missing

2. Validation and action


A call will be made by a TallyCare executive to the respective CAs for whom exceptions have been raised,
to discuss about the cause of such exception.
Key points for observation during call-
For, information mismatch:

• Check if the same CA is using the license as per our records


o If yes, inform them that they have not selected / wrongly selected the business segment
while purchase and update the records with their agreement -> no need of any action
 In case of suspicion -> escalate to sales
o If the CA says the credentials are correct, but that he/she has not purchased the license,
discuss and inform the CA about the misuse and surrendering the license -> surrender the
license (immediately)
o If they say no, then enquire about their correct credentials, where they purchased the license
from and the amount they paid. If misuse is identified, inform them about the discount
applicability only for CAs and that license must be surrendered - > surrender the license as per
defined process & provide the option to buy at regular price from ‘Quick buy’ in
www.tallysolutions.com

For, unusual access or license activity:

• Check if the same CA is using the license as per our records (if above process doesn’t apply)
o If yes, check with the CA if he/she is aware about ‘the license being used at multiple locations’
or ‘unusually high multiple actions taken on license in the same day’
 In case the CA is unaware, inform him/her about the details of suspicious activity at
multiple locations and guide the CA to surrender and reactivate, wherever required 
surrender the license
 In case the CA is aware and is able to provide a valid reason -> no need for any
action
 In case the CA is aware but is not able to provide any valid reason  escalate to
sales

For missing information: MRN/FRN incorrect or missing

• Check if the same CA is using the license as per our records

o If yes, inform them that their license is not mapped with MRN/FRN and request them to provide
the same along with ICAI membership certificate within 2 days
 If the details are shared -> no need of action
 If the details are not shared within 2 days, call again on 3rd day
 In case 3 calls are made and details are still not provided  escalate to sales
 In case of suspicion -> escalate to sales
o If they say no, then enquire about their correct credentials, where they purchased the license
from and the amount they paid. If misuse is identified, inform them about the discount
applicability only for CAs and that license must be surrendered - > surrender the license as per
defined process & provide the option to buy at regular price from ‘Quick buy’ in
www.tallysolutions.com
3. Escalation
• The BM will visit the CA and verify the legitimacy of the case, post which a decision will be taken on
whether the license will continue or has to be surrendered
