1. In the interest of service and in view of the selection for the Culture and Arts
Festival King and Queen 2019, please be informed of the following:
1.1. Activities done for the Selection as of September 14, 2019:
1.1.0. Pre-screening of Contestants held on September 10,

2. The following are the units with entries in the Selection of MSC Culture and
Arts Festival King and Queen 2019:
2.1. Matrix
2.2. Artisan
2.3. Chiron
2.4. Artes y Scientia
2.5. Trojans
3. The following will be the final guidelines in relation to the Selection of MSC
Culture and Arts Festival King and Queen 2019:
3.1. There will be five (5) categories to be rated in the selection
3.1.0. Pre-selection Activities/Casual Interview 15
3.1.1. Production Number/Introduction 10
3.1.2. Swim Wear (Beauty of the Face & Figure) 15
3.1.3. Formal Wear (Coat & Tie/Long Gown) 15
3.1.4. Ability to Answer the Final Question 30
3.1.5. Over-all Appeal (Judge’s Discretion) 15
Total 100
a. On pre-selection activities/casual interview (15%)
There will be a house-judge (to be identified by the Committee) who
would rate the contestants’ performances including their attitude
during the pre-selection activities starting Monday (September 16,
2019) activities. Casual Interview will be conducted as part of the
pre-selection activity. Likewise, each candidate will rate all of the
candidates as to their relational ability and other attributes.
b. On Production Number/Introduction (10%)
Candidates will wear white T-shirt (round neck) as top and maong
jeans during the production. Audience impact as they introduce
themselves as well as their production performance will be
considered in rating this category.
c. On Swim Wear (Beauty of the Face & Figure) (15%)
Female candidates will wear one-piece swim wear (black) but with
a piece of cloth as cover (“tapis”). Male will wear a swimming trunks
(black). Preferably light make-up only to emphasize the natural
beauty of the face. No bikini open scene/s as the candidates walk
in the stage.
d. On Formal Attire (Coat & Tie/Long Gown) (15%)
Female candidates will wear long gown (any color, backless and
ball gown is not allowed) that will depict women in their loveliness,
femininity and elegance while male candidate will wear coat and tie
to depict men gentleness and masculinity.
e. On Question and Answer Portion
The ability to answer will be based on the depth, meaning and
substance of the answer given by the candidates. Candidates may
respond in either English or Filipino. Questions will focus on local
(MSC and Provincial) and national current issues such as
universityhood of MSC, local culture, arts and tourism concerns,
agriculture, SOGIE bill, youth issues (premarital sex, teenage
pregnancy and suicide).
3.2. The criteria for judging the Production, Swim Wear and Formal
Wear will be:
1.2.1. Poise and Personal Bearing
1.2.2. Projection of Womanhood and Manhood
1.2.3. Appropriateness of the Attire (color/cut of the fabric and
accessories worn must suit the individual)
1.2.4. Stage Deportment
1.2.5. Overall Impact
1.2.6. Audience Impact and Performance (for Production Number only)
3.3. Candidates are expected to be at the selection venue on time and
with make-up. Only one chaperon (coach or asst. coach only) for
each candidate will be allowed at the backstage to assist the
candidate in changing attire/make-up retouch. No make-up
artist/handlers will be allowed at the backstage.
3.4. Determination of winners will be based on ranking system. In case
of tie, the judges will deliberate among the members to finalize the
result. There will be three (3) major awards to be given during the
event, Festival King and Queen 2019, Festival King and Queen
2019 1st Runner-up and Festival King and Queen 2019 2nd Runner-
up. Points will be given also from rank 1st to 5th (1st=10points,
2nd=7points, 3rd=5points, 4th=3points and 5th=1point) to be added in
the over-all ranking for Culture and Arts Festival). Likewise, minor
awards such as Best in Swimwear, Best in Formal Wear and Mr. &
Ms. Photogenic will be awarded.
3.5. Judge’s decision will be final and irrevocable

4. Sash will be distributed on Monday/September 16, 2019/afternoon (printing


ongoing) while the T-shirts will be on the 18th.

5. If the venue will be pursued at the MSC Audio Visual Room (as preferred),
only ten (10) pax (students and faculty members) per unit will be
accommodated. There will be seats provided for the Deans, plus-one of the
candidate and parents. However, the MSC Quadrangle is being considered
as venue until September 17, 2019.

6. As per instruction, this Search will be conducted on its simplest and most
practical way but let us make this a memorable and meaningful activity for
our candidates and students. Let them be the highlight of this activity and
let us use this as one of the many ways to develop them holistically.

7. The Committee expects your full cooperation as partners and let us


continuously work together to meet our common objectives and targets.
