Films. They are a societal medicine or the dramatic stories of the ordinary.

Perhaps that is why

we are drawn to the screen and the stage- movies are echoes of our life.
I love to lose myself in the stories of crime dramas. In those choreographed moments, directed
by the greats and acted by legends I am free to explore my dark side. I root for the hero and
enjoy the sick logic of the villain. Murder and violence for lust and money, it makes my soul tick
in a way that ordinary life fails to. Having watched quite a few of the crime thriller films like-
Drishyam, Badla, Baby, Race (Bollywood) Gone Baby Gone, Gone Girl, Prisoners(Hollywood)
and more in the genre, I can feel my liking grow towards such films. They are dark, engrossing,
and suspenseful plot-driven stories.
My soul prefers the old times, the good times of old movies that spun on reels. They had
imperfections that brought them a life, modern hollywood or Bollywood productions can't
invoke. I know I hanker after the impossible, a world that is a fictional representation of life back
then, but I need it all the same: A star is born, To have and have not, Vertigo in Hollywood and
movies like: Deewar, Waqt, Aradhana.
Knowing Superheroes from our world is as important as knowing the Marvel heroes. Watching
films on real heroes forms an integral part of my inner strength which keeps me motivated and
ready to face the challenges of the real world. One can draw immense strength from movies like-
Sarbjit, Sachin: A Billion Dreams, Super 30, Mary Kom and many more. Marvel Superheroes are
my next favorites. Moreover, I find Iron Man way better than the overrated Gaurdians of the
Galaxy and Avengers: Infinity wars. The hype that was created for The End Game was totally
worth it. Throughout the movie, my heart rate roses and only when it ended I noticed my muscles
were tensed. It took a moment to digest such compressed drama. The depth of the film permeates
every aspect of script and plot. Just another action packed movie- The Wolverine is my next
favorite. Although its final act succumbs to the usual cartoonish antics, The Wolverine is one
superhero movie that manages to stay true to the comics while keeping casual viewers
entertained.
When we see certain incidences shown in movies that we can relate to we naturally let them
influence our mind-set and thought process. We even idealize certain characters and scenarios
from the movies. Indeed, films do play a vital role in our lives.
