ICT IN TEACHING

In the year 2011, together with the implementation of K-12 curriculum by

the republic act 10533, the Department of Education promotes the utilization of
Information and communications technology (ICT) in education to support,
enhance, and optimize the delivery of information.
ICT is a pivotal tool in spreading quality education. According to Kofi Annan,
the former General Secretary of the United Nations, ICT helps to achieve the aim
of Universal Primary Education by 2015; since it can take learning beyond the four
walls of the classroom. This implies the vital role played by ICT in the educational
sector. ICT provides great flexibility in education to ensure that learners are able
to access knowledge anytime and from anywhere. It also affects the way
knowledge is imparted and how students learn.
The world in which we live is rapidly changing. Technology has permeated
nearly every aspect of our lives. Educator’s technology has revolutionized the
way they teach, communicate, and manage information. Gone are the days of
Blue Masters and hand written report cards. The educator who is not staying
current on the application of technology is making his/her job harder, limiting
student possibilities. Computer integration may seem like a daunting task to
some, while other find it to be the necessity in education. Educators stand in this
spectrum will usually depend on their own skill level, access to technology, and
technical support at your school.
Some educators are resistant to computer integration because they are
uncomfortable with technology. Others are resistant because their access to
technology is limited, and yet others resist because their students have little or no
access to technology. These are all poor excuses. As educators we ask our
students on nearly a daily basis to be uncomfortable, for that is inevitable when
learning something new. Should we not role model to our students that learning
is a lifelong process? Limited access to technology is no longer a valid argument
for not integrating. There is always a solution to be found. Creativity has always
been the teachers most valuable tool!
Dlamini and Coleman, (2017) find out that ICT presents tremendous
opportunities and innovations to improve learner’s attainment and enhance their
learning experiences but at the end of the day, educators have a duty to prepare
students for the future. emerging world of technology, adapt to the changes
happening in the world! students need the skills of today, not just yesterday, to
be successful in the world of tomorrow.

CCTV INSTALLATION
Security is vital to all walks of life to ensure that the overall safety and
possession of all individuals are protected. The house bill no. 2048 entitled “CCTV
Cameras for Security and Crime Prevention Act”, an act requiring business
establishment, public offices and facilities, schools and other local government
units to install Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras to deter the commission
of crimes and prescribing penalties for violation. Hence, our school Sta. Lucia
Elementary School installed the cameras last ( DATE ). They installed 4 cameras
around the school. Specifically, one in the gate, covered court, pathway and I the
canteen. Not just to comply with the aforementioned bill but to maintain peace
and order , protect life , liberty and property to the general welfare. Indeed, it is a
great blessing to have CCTV in school. In the age of technology, this simple
weapon is one of the most effective ways to deter and fight the evils or the
theives. CCTV surveillance is of great importance in schools, namely; 1. It acts as a
deterrent to anybody with mal intent. 2. It supplements the security guards since
it is inhuman and thus never tires or loses focus. 3. It helps in monitoring and
keeping track of activities taking place in school premises. 4. It helps to identify
and capture any intruders or offenders. 5. It allows for maintenance of an
effective access control so that only authorized persons access the school thus
making it easier to keep the entrances and exits of a school secure. 6. It helps in
keeping a watch on valuables and appropriate use of resources within the school.
7. It is useful in organizing evacuation in case of emergencies and reducing the
response time when planning security drills. 8. In the event of any vandalism or
theft, it is a useful tool in protecting the school property and identifying the
perpetrators. 9. It can be used to keep track of attendance of students, teachers
and support staff alike, along with ensuring they are all doing their work
efficiently. 10. With increased cases of raging and bullying, it not only acts as a
deterrent, it also helps in bringing justice to any
offenders. And finally, it helps to keep parents’ mind at ease about the
safety and security of their children while they are away at school.

REFUSAL TO VACCINATE CHILDREN

According American Academy Pediatrics, vaccine is a cultured bacterium to
make antibodies to help the immune system to protect the body from any
harmful viruses. Vaccines prevent diseases that can be dangerous, or even deadly.
Vaccines greatly reduce the risk of infection by working with the body’s natural
defenses to safely develop immunity to disease. Throughout history, the
introduction of vaccinations in societies around the world have significantly
reduced the threat of deadly viruses. Despite the many benefits of immunizations,
some parents refuse to vaccinate their children due to the health risks associated
with them. The outbreak of the Dengvaxia made it strong. January 19, 2018, At
an event in San Fernando, Pampanga, Health Secretary Francisco Duque III
confirms Sanofi Pasteur has refunded P1.16 billion worth of unused Dengvaxia
vaccines. They reveal health officials did not wait for the results of clinical trials of
the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) on Dengvaxia to know its risks
before launching the nationwide immunization program. Hence, some parents in
Zamboanga refuse the DOH's deworming program due to the Dengvaxia scare.
Three vaccinated children developed and died of dengue, 9 died due to various
diseases they got after their vaccination, while the cause of death of the last two
cases remain unknown. Parents have become so scared after Sanofi announced
Dengvaxia may lead a person to develop severe dengue if he or she had not been
infected by the virus prior to immunization. The parents are now refusing to avail
of free government vaccines that could prevent their kids from getting other
preventable diseases like polio and measles.
