Stability Enhancement : Due to load and wind disturbances the hybrid power system will

experience low frequency oscillations. In the presence of disturbances the safe operation of
power system becomes difficult and therefore control strategies should be developed for
eliminating them.LQR approach in combination with other controlling systems is effective to
overcome the oscillations in the power system.This approach is used in order to identify the
closed loop in the power sytemApplication of LQR controller scheme as a concept of optimal
control theory can bring three major advantages:
1.Providing a time varying control signal in each moment which causes the system to follow
the proper trajectory.
2.Minimizing a cost function during transient periods while specifying a trade off among the
state regulation and control action.
3.Robustness
Optimal control theory is used to find an admissible control input u which causes the system
to follow an admissible trajectory by minimizing the system performance index.
The optimum values of R and Q have a large effect on the performance fun
ction and precise adjustment of these matrices will improve the performance of the controller.
The system will be tested for different operating conditions like normal load,light load and
heavy load disturbaces in input wind and reactive power load.The eigen values of the hybrid
power system with and without LQR controller for different conditions will be found.
