“See you next year” that was the last thing my friend Juan said to me. Now did he see me next
year short answer no. That was not the point though, that line he said to me signified that this
was the end of a chapter in my life. Now I think it is important to state my relationship with
middle school I didn't care about it. So this ceremony at the end of 8th grade was absolutely
boring now when the ceremony started I was making jokes and stuff, just generally goofin
around but as the ceremony was going on I realized “wait im not winning any of these rewards.
In fact I don't think I have won any of these rewards through elementary school to now.” To be
honest it kinda hurt and it hurt even more when my dad came half way through the ceremony and
I still wasn't winning any awards. The ceremony went on for an hour I got my certificate then
said goodbye to my friends and left overall my last day of 8th grade was just fine just like 8th
grade itself, it was completely fine but I felt like something was wrong deep down. Like I wasn't
really using all of my skills to their complete abilities and like I didn't really learn anything.
So I went to my dads car and he says “So what did you think about this school year” and I said
“It went pretty well all things considered.” Then he said, “What do you want to eat for lunch” so
I replied with “ Five Guys” and he said “altright”. So while he was driving to Five Guys I was
thinking what a good year ive had and all the friends I've made. To be honest that version of me
was kinda right in a way, and I wish I still had that part of me was here. So me and my dad

arrived at Five Guys I was listening to a video essay about how the 2011 Hulk movie fails as a
film and as a comic book movie. Overall it was a pretty interesting video. So my dad comes up
to me and starts telling me his order and the old me was like “What? Why can't you do it” and he
says “I’ll tell you later” so I went up and gave me and my dads order. My order was a
cheeseburger with only ketchup and mustard, this means no tomatoes or onions, also some fries
and a medium soda. Now I can't really remember my dads order at the moment but I get my
number and make my way to the soda machine the closer to the soda machine the more my feet
stick to the floor. So I get to sodas which are both cokes, one for me and one for my dad. I bring
sodas to our table. So then my dad says “ Sit down we're going to have a talk” and at that point I
knew he was going to say something important so I listened. Then he said, “ Now that you have
passed middle school I think it's about time you take up some responsibilities and become a man.
I want you to remember this moment for a long time because after this I want you to look at
school differently . Look at school as a responsibility not a job”. After that line it hit me that I
had to take school more seriously or else I could end up as a loser with the mind of a child. Now
I take school more seriously, so I don't end up regretting not taking school seriously in the future.
