Why Do People Kill?

Murder. It is a filthy and a wicked word. To take a life is regarded as one of the gravest crimes one can
commit. It is a capital sin, a felony it is. Yet, people kill. Why is it that something as immoral as this is
regarded as a ‘common’ crime nowadays? What brings people to kill, what goes on in their heads? What
reasons in this earthly world have driven them to do such horrible things?

At times I wonder…

Do murderers murder just because they want to? Or because they need to?

When an angry human being tends to act violently, people surrounding him would be so compassionate
enough to tell him to stop and to think of his actions first. But they do not give it a second thought that
their words might just fuel the fire in his anger.

And when the crime has already been done, we judge. We give dirty looks and talk bad about their
deeds. Not realizing the fact that we’re killing him inside more than a real murderer can do.

Just like the society these days, people only flock to see and know 'who' and 'how', not the 'why',
because no one really pay much attention to details. No one really cares unless, someone special to
them or a relative, maybe a close friend have been murdered to death.

A never ending cycle of blood, deaths and cries. There’s always a price to pay. And sometimes, the lives
of other people weren’t just sufficient enough for an unjustified soul that’s seeking the retribution in
disguise of the word justice.

That’s why so many people were seeking for revenge. So many people wish for a payback and destroy
others as much as they were damaged. Because they intend to put the law in their own hands.

For they all want fairness and to be even…not knowing the consequences will be deadly and noxious.

I am not siding with anyone, not with a murderer and not with the society and their nasty opinions,
what I am pointing is that, people kill people because of wretched reasons or if not, maybe because of a
psychological disorder.

One of my friends will always say, “serial killers are made, not born.” And yes, we all made them that
way, we turned them into the damned they are now. We turned them into murderers.

People are bad. It’s our nature. We are sinners.

An evil for an evil is how we think and how we act. We live in a harsh world where weak thinkers die
easily.

And so we become monsters.

It is just so sad to think of that a certain person could kill hundreds of people and will be brought to the
court to come justify his reasons for killing.

And going back to the past, we punished their sins by committing the same crime. How? By killing the
killer. Isn’t that ironic? Just how ill-fated this world can get?

That in the modern-day world, leaders of religious, spiritual and even politicians who promise to give
our country the harmony it needs, claim that their point of views and principles promote peace, but still,
we see their followers continue to kill each other.

There are seven reasons to kill base from what I have read and for me not even one of those are worth
forgiving even after death.

It is so alarming and distressing that our consciousness about murders and killings are becoming narrow
and that the borders between just and unjust have blurred.

I’m afraid that if we do not develop ourselves into a more empathetic and concerned citizens, then it
will be all too late.

I think the time has come for all of us to learn how to be involved but not in a way of trampling one’s
feelings. Let us all communicate better and think of our actions before proceeding with ungodly and
sinful plans at the back of our minds.

Accept that killing one human is like killing all of humanity.
