The Document mainly introduce the flashing methods of the Mi&Red Mi phone
models except MTK about fastboot mode flashing and emergency mode flashing
Support Models
All Mi series , Red Mi series.
Data Backup
Ensure all of data had been backup before flashing
According to different customers request, coach and cooperate customers to finish

data backup.
Cloud Backup：backup：backup contacts, SMS and gallery through Mi account, it is

more stable way to backup user data. And based on cloud technology, it is most
safety and easy backup solution. Login in Mi account and ensure the integrity of data,
website address: http://i.mi.com/
Local Backup：backup all user data and app through device "Backup&Reset"
selection. This is most complete backup way, but due to backup data is stored in the
ROM of the phone, there will be some risks during the phone flashing, so please
coach customers to copy this backup file to local PC before flashing.
Fastboot mode flashing

Applicate models：All Mi series , Red Mi series.
OS requirement：Windows 7 64 bit
Flashing Tool：MiFlash，tool edition should be 20170204 or later
Tool download link：FTP servers, Google drive or Baidu drive (Detail link address
please contact with XiaoMi oversea technical support engineer)
MIUI package：MIUI fastboot flashing package
Download method：Download by DTool or log on ROM website
How to enter FASTBOOT flashing mode

Press volume up +power key together, then below interface will pop up
NOTE:
1. MI PAD 2 cannot use this way to enter fastboot mode, but you can press
volume up + volume down + power key together to enter DNX mode. The
interface of DNX is white MI logo, and yellow “DNX FASTBOOT MODE”strings
can be found at left top corner，and the PAD 2 will skip to fastboot mode during
the flashing.
Flashing procedure
Open Miflash flashing tool, click "Browse" to choose related model MIUI package(The
connect path should get to the package name, do not need to reach the images
like old version.), then choose correct options from bottom three choices based on
real request. The flash_all_lock option can lock the bootloader after flashing.
NOTE: The flash_all_except_storage can only be used in fastboot mode

flashing, the tool will clear all customer data in emergency mode flashing even
you choose flash_all_except_storage.
Set the phone into fastboot mode, then connect it with PC, press
"Refresh" to detect the phone as below picture showed. Once the phone is detected,
then press flash to start MIUI flashing.
Wait the operation completed successfully and reboot .
For Android One/Go system phones-Mi A1, Mi A2, Mi A2 lite, Mi A3, Redmi Go
Android one/go system phones support fastboot mode flashing directly. So you can
use XiaomiFlash to update the MIUI version in fastboot mode.
Detail flashing method, please refer the android one system phone flashing
instruction.
Please attention !! Each Android one/Go system device can not be flashing
between Android one/go system and MIUI system. It is forbidden to flash
whether from MIUI to Android One/Go or Android One/Go to MIUI.
Emergency mode flashing

OS Requirement：Windows 7 64bit
Flashing Tool：MiFlash，tool edition should be 20170204 or later
Tool download link：FTP servers, Google drive or Baidu drive (Detail link address
please contact with XiaoMi oversea technical support engineer)
MIUI package：MIUI fastboot flashing package
Download Method：Download by DTool or log on ROM website
Permission：Log on Mi account with Xiaomi Permission
Flashing Method：
MiFlash is used for emergency flash, that is same with fastboot flashing.
But the difference is the COM port will be showed for emergency flashing after device
connected(except Mi 5C),and all data will be erased after emergency flashing no
matter which option is selected at the bottom.
Mi 9 Lite
Power off the phone, disassemble the back cover as below picture. Short connect two
pins with tweezer as below picture showed, then connect device with PC through USB
cable, if below information pop up, that means the device is under the emergency
flash mode.
“Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008(COM XX)”.
Then click flash button.
Mi A3
Power off the phone, disassemble the back cover as below picture. Short connect two
pins with tweezer as below picture showed, then connect device with PC through USB
cable, if below information pop up, that means the device is under the emergency
flash mode.
Redmi 7A
Power off the phone, disassemble the back cover and remove the Fingerprint module
and small protect cover as below picture .Short connect two pins with tweezer as
below picture showed, then connect device with PC through USB cable, if below
information pop up, that means the device is under the emergency flash mode.

Mi 9T Pro(K20 Pro)
Use specific EDL flashing cable to set the phone to 9008 mode.And just need to connect
the power off status phone and PC with EDL cable directly,then the 9008 com port can be
found in device management.

Method 1: == Use specific EDL flashing cable to set the phone to 9008 mode.And just
need to connect the power off status phone and PC with EDL cable directly,then the 9008

First open the lcflash_all.bat script, then keep pressing down volume up key under
device power off status, connect the device with PC through USB cable, then some
ports information can be found in the device management as below picture showed (If
the driver has some problems, please download and install
http://pan.baidu.com/s/1bnk3PIR，X86 for 32 bit system, and X64 for 64 bit
system)，emergency flash will auto start and success can be found after flashing。
（NOTE: this model don't need the emergency mode tool, just run the script to finish
the emergency flash.）
Mi Note Series
First power off Mi Note/Mi Note ultimate, remove the original SIM tray, then protect the
edge of the SIM tray with sticker as below picture showed (Note: Sticker must be
removed and clean up all remained adhesive after repairing). Insert the specific SIM
tray and connect the device with PC through USB cable, if below information pop up
in the device management, that means the device is under the emergency flash
mode.

Red Mi 2，Red Mi 2A Prime

First ensure the device is under the power off status, according to the instruction to
disassemble the back cover, Short connect two pins with tweezer as below picture
showed, then put into the battery and connect device with PC through USB cable, if

Power off the device but don't remove the battery, then short connect two pads nearby
the SIM card with metal tool as below picture showed, force boot up bottom driver to
recognize the USB port. Please short connect two pads first, then insert the USB
cable.
Mi 4 CMCC/CU/CT
The specific SIM tray is needed for Mi 4 emergency mode setting. Please power off
the device first, then remove the original SIM tray and insert specific SIM tray. Please
take care the direction and ensure the MI LOGO side up.
Connect the device with PC through USB cable, if below information pop
up, that means the device is under the emergency flash mode.

Reminding: Once the emergency mode is detected correctly, please remove the
special SIM tray, then start to doing the emergency flash, otherwise the flashing will
be fail.
Red Mi 1S CU/CT
Disassemble the battery, and connect the device with PC through USB cable. Short
connect two pins under SIM card with metal tool as below picture showed, force boot
up bottom-driver to recognize the USB port. Please short connect the pin first, then
insert the USB cable.
Mi 3
MI3 CMCC and CU need specific SIM tray to set emergency flash mode as below
picture showed. And please power off the device first, then insert this special SIM tray.
Then connect the device with PC through USB cable, if below


Reminding: Once the emergency mode is detected correctly, please remove the
special SIM tray, then start to doing the emergency flash, otherwise the flashing will
be fail.
Mi 2A
Disassemble the battery, and connect the device with PC through USB
cable. Short connect two pins under SIM card with metal tool as below picture
showed, force boot up bottom-driver to recognize the USB port. Please short connect
the pin first, then insert the USB cable.
Mi 2/2S
Disassemble the battery, and connect the device with PC through USB cable. Short
connect two pins under SIM card with metal tool as below
pictuere showed, force boot up bottom-driver to recognize the USB port
Please short connect the pin first, then insert the USB cable, then the
correct driver can boot up. And please take care the battery socket when connecting
ground.
Other method for Red Mi 2/Red Mi 3/Red Mi

Note 4G Dual SIM/Red Mi 2A Prime
First ensure the device under the power off status, press volume up and down
together, then insert USB cable, if below information pop up, that means the device is
under the emergency flash mode.
Note and reminding

1 Operation must be more cautious before flashing, all data should be
backup and ensure the data safety.
2 It is better to remove all data if the device SW will be downgrade, otherwise the
downgrade maybe will be fail.
3 When the device is connected, if the device is under the PC USB control or auto
testing mode, please take out the battery and put it in again. Then the bottom driver
can be closed.
4 Emergency flashing will erase all data in the device, so please backup the data
before that.
5 Bootloader locker will be used for Mi Note ultimate, Mi 4C on MIUI
6.1.14 developer or later developer version, fastboot flash cannot be used for them,
so please use emergency flashing.
