SPAN / TAP
The network monitoring interface of the sensor must be provided an access point to provide network
visibility. This is most often done with a Switch Port Analyzer (SPAN), Mirror Port or a Test Access Port
(TAP). Regardless of which technology is used, it is critically important that the device be configured
properly.

RAVENii can help you configure the SPAN/Mirror port if needed.

Firewall Access
Outbound access to the following ports/protocols is required:
 TCP/22 (SSH)
 TCP/443 (HTTPS)
 UDP/53 (DNS)
 UDP/123 (NTP)
 TCP/9093 (Sensor Cloud Aggregator)
 ESP/IP Protocol 50 (IPSec VPN)
 UDP/500 (IPSec VPN ISAKMP)
 UDP/4500 (IPSec VPN ISAKMP NAT-Traversal)
Appliance Installation

1. Mount the appliance in a rack or on a shelf


2. Connect Power to back of appliance.
3. Connect network interfaces.
a. Connect Customer LAN to the Appliance Management Port.
b. Connect the Mirror/SPAN port(s) to the Appliance Monitor Port(s).
i. In situations where there are multiple physical segments, more than 1 monitor port
may be used.
4. Press the power button to apply power to the appliance.
5. Email the Project Manager when everything is connected and powered on.
