Kinetic sand
Kinetic Sand Recipe
1. 1 cup of play sand.
2. 1/2 tbsp corn starch.
3. 1 tsp dish soap.
4. 1 cup of water (added as needed)
Method
Begin by combining the play sand and corn starch in a large bin or container.
Mix well.
In a separate container combine 1 cup of water with 1 tsp of dish soap, and stir until the water is
bubbly.
Then, slowly add the water-mixture to the sand/cornstarch and mix well.
Mix and mix, slowly adding more water & mixing as you go.
Store your homemade kinetic sand in an air-tight container between play times, and it can be
used again & again.
If the sand dries out between play add a touch of soapy water & mix it into the sand. This will
restore it to the desired consistency.
Paint
Use flowers, natural foods such as beetroot, turmeric, henna, red cabbage, carrots, charcoal…
Finger paint:
Salt and Flour Paint
Blend 1/2 cup of flour with 1/2 cup of salt. Add 1/2 cup of water…and mix until smooth.
Divide it up into three plastic bags or containers and add a few drops of liquid watercolor or
food coloring to each bag. Squish them up until the “paint” is well blended. Use Ziplock bags if
small children are helping with this step. Add more water if you’d like a thinner paint. Cut a
corner off the baggie and squeeze the paint mixture into your squeeze bottle.
