How is CAT Percentile Calculated?

Calculation of CAT percentile includes three steps:

In CAT , three marks are awarded f or each correct answer and one mark is deducted f or
each incorrect answer. No marks is deducted f or wrong answers in non-MCQ type
questions.

1. Each candidate is f irst scored section-wise and then the overall score is arrived at
by totaling the section-wise scores.

2. T hereaf ter, these section-wise and overall scores (raw scores) are normalized to
arrive at scaled CAT score.

3. T he normalized scores are converted into percentiles which is reported on the CAT
score card.

What is CAT Normalization Process?

T he CAT exam is conducted in two slots and the dif f iculty level of the exam of one
session varies f rom the other. T o ensure equity in the marking process, CAT authorities
f ollow a normalization process where the marks of every candidate are scaled.
