Abstract
Compact, high accuracy and precise torque output are compelling elements of multi-
axial motor control system in medical, automotive and aerospace application. A
precision brushless motor controller SoC is proposed for the application on micro
motor and extreme condition. The focus on brushless dc motor (BLDCM) because the
lower inertia, large power-to-volume ratio and low noise but needs a complex
controller (1),(2).The novel system architecture of motor controller is separated with
BLDCM (3), therefore, a long wire arouses high electromagnetic noise, high weight
and complex installation. Our target design is to put the controller attached with
BLDCM and dramatically reduce the number of wires between the system and to the
motor. A superior signal communication analog front-end is running over power line
which the physical connection is running amplitude-shift-keying signal on AC driver.
The lower system weight, compact in size and real time control can be achieved.
Furthermore, PWM digital controller, 12 bit current control, communication module
and motor commutation logic circuit are also included. The high quality fabrication
technology is 0.18um 1P6M high temperature/400V process in XFAB (4).
