Abstract

THE EFFECT OFCOMBINATION OF MUROTTAL THERAPY AND WUDHU

HYDROTHERAPY ON BLOOD PRESSURE REDUCTION IN ELDERLY
HYPERTENSION SUFFERERS

Background:
Hypertension is a silent killer, so it is needed a therapy to decrease blood pressure.
Murottal therapy and wudhu hydrotherapy can be use to decrease blood pressure. This
research is aimed at knowing the combination effect of murottal therapy and wudhu
hydrotherapy on blood pressurereduction in elderly hypertensive sufferers.
Methods:
The research design was using true experiment with pretest-posttest as well as control
group design and simple random sampling was chosen as the sample technique. The
research design itself was using true experiment pre and posttest with control group
design. The sample was chosen by simple random sampling with 42 respondents. It
divided into 3 groups (A: murottal therapy, B: wudhu hydrotherapy, C: combination
therapy). Data Analysis was using Repeated Anova Test, Friedman, Kruskal-Wallis and
General Linear Model.
Result:
The respondents were the age of 60-74 and most of them was female, worked as
housewives, elementary school graduated and normal BMI. The result was showing a
difference of the decrease of systolic or diastolic blood pressure in all the groups with
each p value 0,000 (p<0,05). C group (systolic pre-post0 in the mount of 6,71 and pre-
post20 was 14,14; diastolic pre-post0 was 5,07 and pre-post20 was 10,10), group A
(systolic pre-post0 covers 6,46 and pre-post20 was 10,85; diatolic pre-post0 the the big
of 4,10 and pre-post20 was 8,07) and group B (systolic pre-post0 was 2,82 and pre-
post20 was 6,03; diastolic pre-post0 in the mount of 2 and pre-post20 was 4,35).
Conclusion:
There was a combination effect of murottal therapy and wudhu hydrotherapy to the
reduction of blood pressure in the elderly with hypertension.
