Discussion

To begin with, we need to use a subdivision with at least 500 houses in it for the
analysis of water flow. Then, we set the value of the water consumption of each
household in subdivision for 24 hours with a 406 gal/day. There are 3 time where the
consumption of water is high. First is in the morning from 4:00-6:00 A:M where we
assume that this is the peak hour where people take a bath for work and school.
Second is in between of 10:00 A:M to 12:00 P:M where we assume that this time is
where washing the dishes is taking place. Last is in between of 7:00 to 10:00 P:M where
we assume that people are taking shower from this time before going to bed.

We use a 4.45 hectare with 500 houses for the analysis of water flow in a
subdivision. We have a 3 reservoir. The first one has 100-meter elevation and the other
has 50 meters and 0 meter in elevation. We also use 3 different diameters of pipe for
the analysis. For the road pipe, we use 4000 mm diameter with a roughness of 100. For
the subdivision pipe, we use 2000 mm diameter with a roughness of 100. Lastly, for the
household pipe, we use a PVC type of pipe with the diameter of 1 inch or 26.67 mm
with a roughness of 150. The problem is when we run the analysis it shows that there
are houses having low pressure, so we added 2 tanks having a diameter of 10 meter.
The tank also has initial value of pressure of 5 meter and maximum of 10 meter and
elevation of 10 meter. We use this tank to compensate for the low pressure. We then re-
run the analysis and it shows a better pressure in the analysis.
CONCLUSION

We conclude that when the peak hour came the houses shows different color of
pressure meaning some of the house in the subdivision has low but tolerable amount of
pressure because the water is simultaneously used in the whole system. We also
conclude that when the house is close to reservoir or tank they’re the one having a
great amount of pressure compare to those houses that are far from the reservoir or
tank. The farther the houses from the source of water the lesser the amount of pressure
they get. To compensate the low pressure, we add the tank to the part of subdivision
where they are far from reservoir. For the diameter of household pipe, it is advisable to
use a 1 inch or 26.67 mm because it is commonly used in residential houses.
