PLANS AFTER HIGH SCHOOL

After graduation I plan to continue my education. In early

August of 2020 I will be arriving to University of Mary Washington
for volleyball preseason. At University of Mary Washington I will be
enrolling into the new education program. This new program
ensures a bachelor degree in 4 years, while most universities
require a 5th year to earn this degree. Post college graduation I plan
to either use my teaching degree in the Peace Core for 2 years or go
straight into teaching.

DREAMS

I’ve had dreams and goals all my life. These dreams are always
changing. However, one dream that has always stuck with me is
wanting to impact people positively. I am a big community service
girl, I love helping others. I believe this is a big part of why I want to
be a teacher. Other than the dream of impacting everyone positively,
I would also LOVE to be a foster mom. I have the dream of adopting
most of my kids and the 1st step to adopting is fostering. With those
two dreams in mind, I want to travel as much as I can. I love
seeing/experiencing new things so this is a must!

OPINION ON THE TEACHING PROFESSION

In my opinion, the teaching profession is overlooked. While teaching may be

an interest to some, not a lot of people go into this industry because of the
pay. In order to be a teacher, you have to have the heart. Yes, the pay might
matter to some, but I picked this career path because I have a passion. My
passion means more to me than a number next to a dollar sign. I believe that
every teacher is special, because not every teacher teaches the same. The fun
of teaching is you can use various lesson plans. It is most definitely not the
same thing day after day, teaching is a very exciting career. I am overjoyed to
know that I am headed to college to study more about teaching and can not
wait until I finally have my own classroom.

HOW VTfT HAS PREPARED YOU FOR YOUR CAREER CHOICE

▪ VTf T has been a class I wanted to take since I knew about

it. I never knew it would impact my life as much as it has.
Through VTf T I traveled to Texas, made new friends, won
a scholarship and national award, and have watched my
passion for teaching grow day by day. VTf T has taught me
how to write lesson plans, how special needs students
learn, and much more. VTf T has done more than just
prepare me for my career choice, but also life outside of
my career. I am so thankful I got the opportunity to be
apart of this program for the past 2 years.
