Silent Films

Silent films are an enigma of a time gone by; they

were the birth of modern-day cinema. Silent films
were revolutionary pieces of entertainment which
astounded mass audiences globally. Yet what they
are is so simple, a recording of real-life events
played with background music and speech cards.

I believe making a silent movie is simple enough

for anyone to do it. Start off by scripting a scenario
of your choosing and then begin filming. Since no
audio could be recorded there is a distinct lack of
tonal variation so to make up for that the actors
and actresses must use over the top and emotive
gestures and mannerisms to convey meaning and
emotion with the assistance of overlaid music to
help define the atmosphere of the scene.
