According to Kimberlee Leonard (2019), if the employees are not

performing well, it negatively affects the productivity of an employee and

especially to the business. Kimberlee also stated “do not make mistake on thinking

poor performance indicates a poor employee” because smart managers evaluate the

shortage or lack of the employees to see if it is a talent issue or a management and

development issue, in that case it will affect not only your employees but the

business as well. Every big and small business seeks for a great performance of an

employee. Kimberlee said that good employees are productive, which creates great

working environments and increases the overall productivity. Having evaluations

help businesses to establish where they can assist employees to grow so that they

can do even better.

An article of Heather Levin (2017) stated that it does not take a huge

payroll budget to help improve people’s work lives. She said that setting reasonable

working hours will help on boosting the team’s productivity, it might seem

unworkable but requiring the team to work less might inspire them to produce and

be more productive. Workers in United States are often have long hours of work

and it is seen as a commitment. However, Levin stated that it can result in

presenteeism which means ongoing physical or mental conditions prevent

employees from being fully productive at work. Having this makes employees’ are

at work but not functioning at full capacity due to their illness, sleep deprivation, or

other medical factors. Harvard Business Review added that presenteeism can cut

individual productivity. They also said that long-hours can reduce productivity due

to stress and disengagement. Heather Levin gave tip regarding the said issue and

said that “Let people go home early on Friday afternoons, or give them the

flexibility to come in later on Monday mornings. Not only will this help reduce

labor costs in your business, but you will likely find that the team will work harder

in return.

A study of Yasin Sheikh Ali et al. (2013) found that the productivity of

employees will increase by keeping working conditions and working environment

up to certain threshold level. They also stated that succeeding will decrease if work

load will increase from above certain threshold level.
