INT. BLACK BOX STUDIO (BIRTHDAY SET UP) DAY
Lara is sat in the middle of the set surrounded by her four
friends. A parent comes in with a birthday cake and candles
lit on it.

ALL BUT LARA IN SHOT BEGIN TO CHEER

PARENT BRINGS IN A SMALL BOX

LARA
OPENS THE BOX
Woah, a new phone! That's amazing
thank you so much!

CLOSE UP OF LARA HOLDING HER PHONE

EXT. PARK DAY

Random discussion between the friends occurs, Lara is on her
phone and begins to laugh.
FRIEND 1
Lara! Are you even listening?
LARA
Erm yeah sorry I was watching this
video, look!
All friends look at the phone and begin to laugh as well.
All begin to walk again and Lara is still on her phone, the
previous random discussion continues.
HOLLY
Lara this is getting silly, you
don't even notice us anymore
LARA
Yes I do! Im just busy reading this
give me a minute.
Friend 2 sighs and carries on the discussion
 2.

INT. LARA IN BEDROOM DAY

Lara is scrolling through social media and starts comparing
herself and her life compared to others.
She sees a photo of an Instagram model and proceeds to walk
over to her wardrobe and put a dress against herself and
signs about the way she looks.
LARA (IN VOICEOVER)
I want to be perfect like the girls
on Instagram!
EXT STREET DAY
FRIEND 1
Hey Lara I saw your Instagram post
last night, thought it was unlike
you to post something like that?
LARA
Yeah well I'm just trying to fit in
with everyone else on social media.
FRIEND 1
I'm worried you are getting too
obsessed with social media, its not
good for you. You have changed
since getting that phone.
LARA
What would you know, your just
jealous.
Lara walks away and controls to scroll through her phone.
INT BEDROOM NIGHT
Lara has a dream where she is taken into a virtual world with
voices in her head speaking.
VOICES
"You aren't good enough"
"You will never be perfect"
"Your living a fake life through social media"
"Social Media is changing you"
LARA WAKES UP AND BEGINS TO CRY

INT KITCHEN DAY

PARENT
Lara are you not eating again? This
isn’t like you, are you sick?
LARA
No I’m just not hungry
LARA LEAVES FOR SCHOOL

EXT. SCHOOL FIELD DAY

LARA AND CLASS ARE RUNNING AROUND THE FIELD FOR PE
FRIEND 2
Lara are you okay? You don’t look
so good.
LARA
Yes I’m fine leave me alone
Lara collapses
Everyone runs around her and the screen slowly goes white
with a high pitched noise

INT HOSPITAL BED DAY

Parents surround Lara as she wakes up
PARENT
Lara, we know you haven’t been
eating, what’s up?
LARA
I just wanted to be pretty and
skinny like the girls on Instagram
*cries*

INT COLLEGE CORRIDOR DAY

LARA (CONT'D)
Nicole (Friend 1) I'm sorry about
yesterday, you were right, I was
too involved in social media and it
was distracting me from my real
life and real friends.

FRIEND 1
Its okay, I was only worried for
you, I've been there myself too,
social media can be a dark place
but as long as you are happy in
real life that's all that matters.
LARA
Friends?
FRIEND 1
Always!
INT/EXT they laugh and walk away together hands around each
other.
