In sync with the recently launched 'Fit India Campaign' by Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra

2019 Modi, Amity campuses across India and the Globe inaugurated the 21st SANGATHAN 2019. The
month-long mega sporting event, which culminates in the Founder's Day celebrations, observed
SANGATHAN
in honour of the birthday of Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan, Founder President – Amity saw the presence of
a Ministerial Delegation from Afghanistan alongwith a medley of students showing their sporting
fervor, zeal and their embodiment of fitness.
Students from Amity campuses all over the country and the globe came together to bring to life
the dream of our respected Founder President through participation in over 35 games and sports.
This event acts as a catalyst by bringing the Amitians together and promotes a healthy
competitive spirit, camaraderie and team work amongst them.
The unfurling of “Sangathan Flag” marked the beginning of the glittering ceremony that was
followed by an impressive march past by over 5000 Amity students. Teams from various
departments of the university participate in over 35 different sports such as badminton, squash,
basketball, volleyball, karate, judo, cricket, chess, swimming, and tug of war among others to
clinch the much coveted trophies. A friendly football match between the girl's and boys' team was
organized as well.
Declaring the Sangathan 2019 'open', Dr. Atul Chauhan, Chancellor, Amity University, lauded the
growth of Sangathan with every passing year with more number of students participating. “The
heart fills with pride to see Amity spread itself all over the globe. The mission of our Founder
President is to see the Sangathan flame lit in a new campus every year. Amity University's Campus
in Tashkent, Uzbekistan will be the newer addition to the Amity family in 2019 that will see the
Sangathan flame illuminating on Valedictory Day on October 24, also celebrated as the Founder's
Day,” shared Dr. Chauhan.
Dr. Balvinder Shukla, Vice Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh shared how Sangathan, the
vision of the Founder President, is in resonance with the recently launched Fit India Campaign
and how sports along with education help in developing physical health and also the social and
leadership skills of students.

enthusiasm and anticipation among all the masses. To quote an MIT
review, “technological paradigm shift similar to the jump from
typewriter to the computer”. The introduction of 5G will not only
bring about a pivotal change in the telecom industry but it also has
the caliber to strongly affect other industries as well. Education
sector could also be revolutionized with this technology.
Under 5G, the service area covered by the providers is divided into
small geographical units called cells. The cell-system will help the
providers to identify and provide the network in the remotest areas
of our country. All 5G devices in a cell will communicate through
radio waves. This will ensure there will be no compromise with
connection speed.
In this manner, the introduction of 5G technology will empower
students in the most remote parts of India to access education at an
uncompromised speed. This will change the current picture of the
education sector. The youth from distant villages will be able to
connect to the mainstream of the education industry. The
standard and the level of education in India will surely rise.
5G technology is going to revolutionize the flow and consumption
of data. When it comes to the education industry, there are a lot of
different opinions regarding its consecutive effects on the
industry. Let us keep an open mind while discussing the view-
point of these opinions.
The 5G fixed networks are poised to transform online education. It
will directly serve the educators' need for a wireless network that
can meet students where they are and provide a seamless
learning experience. Being faster than 4G, it will empower
educators to reimagine what's possible inside and outside the

overlook. People go on to say that virtual reality will transform the
level of education for the young minds and will help the students
learning practical and technical skills up to a great extent. For
example, the students will learn history better and with
undivided attention if they get a field trip to the monument
through VR. The medical students could learn to operate better
if they get to notice the subtle details.
It has been noted that the connectivity on the 5G network is much
stronger than on the 4G network. Most of the children in India
must walk for kilometers to reach their schools even today. This
will help those students learn outside their classrooms. This will
help students to study even in the areas that do not receive
internet connectivity at present. Furthermore, enhanced
connectivity is also beneficial for their own safety.
With the improved connectivity the students who do not have
schools in their area are accessible to the rest of the world in terms
of knowledge without the need of the physical presence of a
teacher. Greater Assistance for Students with Special Needs by
providing their need for more frequent or full-time assistance
from teachers. The current robot applications aren't as
responsive as the children they're designed to help. 5G will make
robots a full-time assistant and will support teachers by
responding immediately to help with learning exercises.
Like any other new technologies, 5G too has advantages as well as

WORLD STUDENTS' DAY
World Students' Day is a celebration of multiculturalism,
diversity and cooperation among students across the globe. This
is an occasion for universities across the world to celebrate
global diversity by celebrating their masses of international
students, and the good they do for the local community.
The United Nations declared in 2010 to observe 15th October,
the birth anniversary of the former President of India Late Shri
Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam or A.P.J Abdul Kalam; as
the World Student's Day to honor his efforts in the field of
science and technology as well as for the role of a teacher that he
played throughout his scientific and political careers who
encouraged millions of students through his speeches and
books.
On this occasion students display and celebrate their acts of
social responsibility. They arrange gatherings on campus to
showcase the causes they volunteer for. The Day also sees
several competitions, plays, speech contests, and essay writing
contests among others. Science exhibitions are also organized
to honor one of the greatest scientists and the 'Missile Man of
India'.
Food for Thought: Spend this day thinking about student life,
with its ups and downs, and about how you would like future
generations to experience these few life-defining years.

connectivity is also beneficial for their own safety.
With the improved connectivity the students who do not have

World Students' Day is a celebration of multiculturalism,
diversity and cooperation among students across the globe. This
is an occasion for universities across the world to celebrate
global diversity by celebrating their masses of international
students, and the good they do for the local community.
The United Nations declared in 2010 to observe 15th October,
the birth anniversary of the former President of India Late Shri
Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam or A.P.J Abdul Kalam; as
the World Student's Day to honor his efforts in the field of
science and technology as well as for the role of a teacher that he
played throughout his scientific and political careers who
encouraged millions of students through his speeches and
books.
On this occasion students display and celebrate their acts of
social responsibility. They arrange gatherings on campus to
showcase the causes they volunteer for. The Day also sees
several competitions, plays, speech contests, and essay writing
contests among others. Science exhibitions are also organized
to honor one of the greatest scientists and the 'Missile Man of
India'.
Food for Thought: Spend this day thinking about student life,
with its ups and downs, and about how you would like future

INDIA-SOVIET UNION-RUSSIA
FRIENDSHIP OVER AGES

After India's independence, the relations between India and Soviet
Union picked up on a stronger note since mid-1950s. The relations
covering multilateral aspects of cooperation between the two
countries were most enduring and almost on a platonic level. It
continued so until 1991 when Soviet Union broke up and the
Russian Federation became its Successor State. The bilateral
relations, friendship, and cultural relations have continued to
grow even with this new state on a big scale. During the 1950s to
1970s, the Soviet Union helped India a lot in building up of steel
plants and in other sectors of cooperation including the domain of
nuclear energy. In 1984, Sqn. Ldr. Rakesh Sharma was even sent
to space, testifying to the high level of multi-sectoral cooperation
between the two countries.
Coming to the friendship and cultural exchanges between the two
countries, we have the India-Soviet Friendship Treaty of 1971
which worked like an anchor for India during the liberation of
Bangladesh. In 1987 the Soviet Union celebrated 70 years' of
October Revolution along with 40 years' of India's independence.
Thereafter from time to time 'days of Indian culture in Russia' and
days of 'Russian Culture in India', are constantly celebrated on a
regular scale.
Coming to history, the first Russian visitor to India was Afanasy
Nikitin, a merchant from Tver in Russia. His famous journey
(1466-1472) was documented in a book titled 'Journey beyond

Three Seas'. In 1950s a Russian Actor Oleg Strizhenov with
famous Actor Nargis Dutt made a film with the name 'Journey
beyond Three Seas'. In 1722, 'Peter the Great' met Anbu Ram, the
leader of Indian Merchants in Astrakhan (Russia). They agreed to
full free trade including transiting rights. 'Bhagavad Gita' was
translated in 1788 by orders of Catherine the Great. Coming to
present times, the names of Nicholas Roerich and Svetoslav
Roerich, Ideologists are well known in India. Both in India and
Russia, people with acute interest in each other's country are well
known. Indian cinema and yoga have assumed a great popularity
in Russia, beginning from the days of legendry Raj Kapoor and his
film 'Awara' whose songs are still hummed by Russians.
The following point-wise information summarises the continuous
growth of multilateral relations between India and Soviet Union
and now Russia (after 1991).
1) India's relations with erstwhile USSR followed by Russia, after
the dissolution of USSR in December 1991, have been historically
warm and friendly.
2) The Russian Empire formally came into being on 22/10/1721
and it was earlier preceded by Tsardom of Russia on 16/1/1547.
The Russian revolution of 25th October 1917 removed the Russian
Empire and the Russian Republic (RSFSR) was formally
announced. After annexing most of the Central Asian Republics

gas, natural resources.
4) Boris Yeltsin became President of Russian Republic from 1991
until 31/12/1999 when he resigned.
5) Vladimir Putin succeeded Yeltsin as Acting President and was
elected President in May 2000. Since then he has been
continuously in power and will remain so until 2024. He had a brief
spell as Prime Minister from 2008-2012.
6) President Putin born in 1952 has held high posts in St.
Petersburg and Moscow before becoming President in 2000. He
has also been on KGB posting to Dresden (East Germany) from
1985-1990. It is during his tenure in Dresden that Berlin Wall fell
down on 9/11/1989.
7) As for some of the economic indicators for Russia, its area is
17,125,200 Sq Km with a population of 144 million excluding
Crimea. It was annexed by Russia in 2014 after seizing it from
Ukraine. Russia's GDP is $9152 trllion and the per capita GDP is $
28,957. The India-Russia bilateral trade is $7.71 billion for 2016
and estimated to grow to $30 billion by 2025. The present Indian
investments in Russia are $13 billion and the Russian investments
in India are $ 16 billion.
8) It was by mid 1950s that India-Soviet relations in political,
economic, commercial, cultural, defence, and metallurgy (steel
plants) developed to a great extent. Later on, the bilateral relations
rose to greater heights.
9) In 1975 India's first satellite Aryabhatt was launched on a
Russian vehicle Soyuz. Later by 1984 cooperation in outer space

formal education institutions were slow and tardy to adapt due
to lack of will, the job market saw it with suspicion as none of the
existing managers had undergone online education and did not
know what to expect, and lastly the 'grown-ups' in the society
saw internet more as a distraction than a tool.
Things started to change with the millennial who shaped the
online revolution, paving the way for the later generations.
These were the people that pioneered the online interaction,
taking it out of the offices and putting it into the personal lives.
By the time Gen Z came around, they were wired into the online
way of living. These were the true 'digital natives' who were more
comfortable swiping right than actually flipping a page.
