Lesson 4Da: focus on plugs

Introduction (10 minutes)


Most building has wires that carry electricity inside the walls. The wires are
connected electrical sockets on the wall we use plugs to connect electricity
equipment to the sockets.

NOTES:

1. Describe a pin from a plug. Explain what the different parts of it do?

Answer: The pins are made of metal. Each pin has a screw on top to hold the wire.

2. Why does the plastic have to be taken off the end of a wire before it is fastened
to a pin?

Answer: The wires are covered in colored plastic. The plastic has to taken off the
end of the wire before it is fastened to the pin.

3. The plug has a plastic cover that hides the wires inside it. Why is this
important?

Answer: The plug has plastic covers that hide the wires for safety.
