ABSTRACT This paper is a report on an experience which has happened along my graduation

course in Education by the “Instituto de Educação de Angra dos Reis” (IEAR). As a member of
the studying group “Grupo de Estudos em Cultura, Trabalho e Educação” (GECULTE) I have
participated in projects related to the formation of teachers from the public system of
education – coming from four cities of Costa Verde Sul Fluminense (Angra dos Reis,
Mangaratiba, Rio Claro e Paraty) -, besides education students from IEAR, on the music field.
Since the project “Implementation of the Law 11.769: the construction of an initial and
continued formation proposal to the teachers of the public system of education from Costa
Verde Sul Fluminense in the musical education field” the group has being seeking to
understand how the musical education has happened in this region, and, throughout several
researches actions and extension projects, colaborate to the initial and continued formation of
these students and teachers non experts on music. In the given report I will be showing some
of the challenges faced by the group, as well as some progress obtained from some practical
