destroyed. With the beautiful rebel leader, Mithra Roshanna, and Moratha, the Lord of all Falcons,
Roy works magic, science, and art together as he leads a ragtag army across a continent in hopes of
defeating Mordeth, the Lord of Darkness, and his dragon ally. The Falcon Rises is the second book
I always watch fantasy movies and read a fantasy stories but now it's different, by the way I am Roland
P. Dela Rosa Grade 10- Excellence from Baclaran NHS and just like what I've said, it's different because at
this time I will make a book review after reading it and this is my first time doing it. Michael Staudinger is a
graduate of Pacific Lutheran University, where he studied Greek, and he starts writing novel in 2005 but
until now, he doesn’t become a famous writer, but he keeps on writing and writing even though there's just
only a few people reading his stories but, when I read this book this is the best epic fantasy mystery I've
read. He makes Professor Roy Arthre comes alive though it is just a fiction, and he makes me feel like I'm
Mr. Roy's best friend that I always cheer for his success and victory and mourn for his failures. The synopsis
at the back of the book is enough for you to have a subject at the beginning because it's give an introduction
of what was the story all about and of course with the help also of the title. The thing is that he didn't write a
table of contents for this, so at the beginning, there's a lot of questions on my mind, “How many chapters
does this book have?” and “How many pages that each chapter have?” But At the end it is just a minor
problem because you are reading so, it's not important though you don’t know if you are at the end of
chapter already, but it doesn't make any change because at the end you will keep on reading, and just forget
The places and time uses in the story is very suitable to what is happening to the story, and the book
already consisting a map at the sixth page to help the readers imagine where the place take in the world
Keshia where Roy is transported for example, the place The Great Desert has been said in chapter nine you
can find where is the location of it in Keshia what you need to do is go back to page six and find it. They use
the date and time right because when Roy is on the earth the time is specific for example, Roy walks up at
7:00 to ready for his work as a professor and when he is already in Keshia the time uses is not specific
because there is no time so what they were using is the sunrise and sunset that can help the audience
imagine when did the things happen. They are always describing what the place look like at the story for
example Roy and the falcons walk through the Noshal and the POV in the story telling that Norshal is a
place on the northern part of Keshia and this place is full of diamonds that is very hard to find because
were doing there, why they are there or what is their importance in the novel. All the character perform well
their role in the novel and the personality that the writer given to the characters is very fit to their role just
like Billah personality is so noisy and always make a rumor about something and give people rubbish advice
that can make their life miserable just like his, so he goes to the lord of darkness to make a bad things' role
to the novel as a spy to the protagonist for his lord of darkness Mordeth. Roy Archre, the main character is
always dreaming for transporting to other world and life so his role to the novel is the one who transported
to other dimension and that's a good combination of role and characteristics. Other main characters Mithra,
flanx, godspeds and pothrera has a big impact and they can consider as a static character because they
remain loyal to the side of Roy Archre until they defeated Mordeth and Billah the spy from darkness is
considered as dynamic character because at the end he become good. Those who have a short appearance,
they are also important cause if not because of them the story may end with a bad ending.
The flow of the story is very clarify to me, I know that this part is the rising action because at the very
beginning they are just introducing the main character Roy Archre, and his characteristics that he have a boring
life that's why on his dream he wanted to travel to the life of others but at the end he will just ended with the
reality and focusing to the idea of life vectors. The time that the main character are encountering some problems
is the falling action and that is he transported to other dimension because of the light that comes from an
archmage, and he met a girl that bring him to the queen and king of the Keshia, the name of dimension he goes
to and with that he experience some problem because he doesn't know how he will back to his real world the
earth. The climax begun when they realizes that there's a bigger problem than how to escape that dimension,
because Mordeth the king of darkness who is the reason why the archmage had been killed and go to the earth
that's why the power that is on the archmage has possessed by Roy so the only answer for Roy to escape this
dimension is to defeat Mordeth and it's so hard because the most powerful archmage the king of all falcons had
been killed how about him that he is just an ordinary person. The resolution of the story is when they are finding
for the solution, and they find that Roy have powers, so he'd been trained on how to use his powers, Roy works
magic, science, and art together as he leads a ragtag army across a continent in hopes of defeating Mordeth and
the last is that the falcons also help him to defeat Mordeth because Mordeth killed their king, the archmage
who’s powers now is on Roy. They successfully killed Mordeth and his alliance and that’s because of the help
of each other specially Roy, thar’s the denouement and at the end Roy realized that his life in the Earth is very
beautiful, but he just didn’t see it so at the end they find the solution and the solution is the body of archmage.
The writer I think study English very well and Greek because the way he wrote the novel it’s very
understandable to read, but sometimes the word he uses for the world of Keshia is not appropriate to the readers
because some of it is a new word for the readers but it’s ok because he just uses it make it credible that the
world of Keshia is a dimension that is different to earth and one of it is the language uses there. The language
always uses by the writer is consistent because the way he talks, the way he speaks it always the same until the
end.
All the elements of this novel is very well written and easy to understand, you can make a book report of
this easy without reading it again because it will automatically stay to your mind because it’s easy to
understand, and he always uses appropriate things in every scene. I think I am not wrong to pick this book to
be the first book that I will write a book review because it’s the best to read and my experience with this
book review is such a beautiful experience that I can use anytime when I will write again a book review.
I’ve learned a lot at the main character that always look for the beauty of your life, there’s always beauty on
it, you just need to look for it and enjoy it so that you will not ask for something better that your life.
This is good for everyone who wants to read fantasy fiction book not just because it’s fantasy but because it
gives your life lesson and this writer shouldn’t be just ignored because his the best writer even though his
not famous as the other writer, but you will know that his better than those famous writer, so I am
encouraging you. If you read this focus in every detail because each of it is important.
