IE" is an error code that indicates a water inlet problem on an LG washing machine.

This
code will appear if the washer is not filled to the correct level within eight minutes after
switching it on. Possible causes for the IE code include partially closed taps, improperly
attached inlet hoses or clogged inlet hose filters.

If you have a LG Washing Machine you may see an error code come up and wonder what it
is. Here are the common error or fault codes that will be displayed on the LG washing
machine.

OE
This means that the washer has tried for ten minutes to drain the water out of your machine
and the water did not drain out.

UE
This means that the load in the drum is out of balance causing excessive vibration when
spinning.

IE
This means that the washer has not filled with water in 8 minutes.

LE
This means that the motor and the control panel are not talking to each other properly

PF
Power Failure – The power has gone out to the machine and then has come back on

FE
This means that there is too much water in the machine

PE
This means that the water level sensor is not working properly

CE
The washer motor has received and over current condition

TE
This means that your heating sensor is not working properly

SE
This means that you had a temporary sensor error

HE
This means that you had a temporary heater problem

DHE
This means that you had a temporary dry heater problem

This will give you a basic idea of what has caused your error code.

Washer Fault Codes Failure Code Condition Check/Repair "IE" Water inlet error. Cause :
Correct water level (246) is not reached within 8 minutes after water is supplied or it does not
reach the preset water level within 25 minutes Ensure your taps supplying the washing
machine are turned on. "UE" Imbalance error. Cause : The load is to small, the appliance is
tilted, laundry is gathered to one side, non distributed things are put into the drum. Move the
washing around inside the washing machine to create a more even distribution of weight
"OE" Drain error. Cause: not fully drained within 10 minutes Check there isn't a kink in your
drain hose, ensure the filter is clean, the drain hose can become clogged with sludge,
sometimes a hot wash with 1/2 a cup of vinegar will remove this sludge "FE" Over flow error.
Cause: water is overflowing (water level frequency is over (213) When FE is diplayed the
drain will pump out automatically. "PE" Pressure sensor error. Cause: the sensor switch
assembly is out of order. "dE" Door open error. Cause: door not all the way closed, loose
electrical connections at door switch and pwb assembly.The door switch assembly is out of
order. Gasket on door maybe creased in. Try opening and closing the door, sheck to see the
gasket isn't jamming "[-E" Heating error. Cause: the thermistor is out of order. CE Over
current error. Cause: Main PWB assembly is out of order, Winding in the stator assembly is
short circuited. LE Locked motor error. Cause: The connector (3-pin), male,white) in the
motor harness is not connected to the connector. (3-pin,female,white) of stator assembly. Or
the electrical contact between the connectors. (3-pin,male,white) in the motor harness and 4-
pin,female,white connector in the main PWB assembly is bad or unstable. Or the motor
harness between the stator assembly and main PWB assembly is cut (open circuit) Or the
hall sensor is out of order/defective. bE Ball sensor error. Cause : Loose ball sensor
connector,ball is out of order. This is displayed only when the start / pause button is first
pressed in the OC test mode. EE (EEprom error) Cause: EEprom is out order. Displayed
only when the start / pause button is first pressed in the OC test mode. PF Power failure.
Cause : the washer experienced a power failure. E1 Leakage error. Cause : water leakage in

The previous is a great post! It help me trouble shoot an LE error on my machine. Since the
drum turned freely, I suspected the motor or the sensors. When I turn the drum manually,
while the machine was unpluged, it made the same chiming sounds that it makes when I
turned it on, so I suspected that the motor was OK, but I decided to check it anyway. Using
the diagram from the back of the washer, I found where the motor pluged into the main
circuit board and measured the resistance across each of the three motor windings, which
were 8.4 ohms for each one. Figuring that the motor was OK, I purchased the sensor, which
was available seperatel from a local repair place, for $22 and replaced it. That solved the
problem.

LE indicates a fault with the motor on the appliance.

LG suggest you switch off, wait for a minute, unplug the appliance.

Wait 15 minutes then plug it back in again.

Try the machine again.

If it's still faulty, you can try changing the Hall Sensor in the motor, this can sometimes cure
the problem.

Unplug the machine and remove the rear cover. There are 4 Philips head screws. Take them
out and remove the rear cover.

You should now see the rear of the motor, which is mounted to the back of the drum.

In the middle is a large bolt which holds the stator cover.

You'll need a 17mm socket and a ratchet to remove this bolt.

Remove the stator cover and place aside.

Toward the bottom-left, you will see a couple of wire bunches held to the motor by three
screws. One holds a metal bracket, one actually holds a ground wire, and the last is through
a plastic bracket toward the bottom. Remove these three screws and don't lose them.

Through the motor there are 6 bolts holding it onto the back of the drum assembly.

You'll need a 10mm socket and ratchet to remove them.

You will now have the motor off the back of the drum.

Disconnect the two wire harnesses from the motor.

Looking at the surface of this motor that was facing the DRUM (not the outside), you'll see
two small pieces clipped onto it, toward the bottom.

The sensor you are looking to replace is the one that looks like a kitchen magnet.

It is attached by small clips. You'll see how it goes on. It's easy to remove.

Go to google and search for part number 6501KW2002A.

This will bring up an LG sensor assembly.

Double check with the supplier that this is the sensor for your appliance.

When you receive the sensor, simply reverse steps 1 through 5.

Once re assembled, try the machine again.

If still the same after this you'll need to replace the motor and/or control board.
