Events Assemble

Now, the northeastern official academic events, student organizational events and athletic
events are separated into 3 different portals to access. For example, the students who want
to buy a sport game tickets should go to find the system under mynortheastern/Housing,
Dining & Campus Services/myticket, however the official academic event under
mynortheastern/home/event. Because the portal under mynortheastern/home/event is far
more visible than other portals, the students who don’t know the other two portals and cannot
find the information they aim for may think the information is not exist. I think all events
should be presented in the same system. Students access this integrated system and then
they find what they want in the subpages further.

Food Order

At the time of lunch and dinner, there is a very long line before the food shop window in the
curry student center. Sometimes, I waste more than 30 min to order my food and get my
food. In this period, I don’t have a seat, cannot leave the line to do other things and just stand
in there to wait for my food. Therefore, I want to develop a food ordering system to solve this
problem and make the student became more convenient. The student inputs their cellphone
number, then choose the food shop, then select the meal, then choose when they want to go
to pick up or as soon as possible, and pay for the order online. If the order is ready, the
students will get a message and they can go to pick up their food directly. The students can
study in the library or do exercise in the gym continually without wasting time to stand in line.

Program Experience

Generally, students are ambiguous about their program, they are not very clear about the
courses that they need to take. They have little ways to know the professor, the content of
courses, the textbooks and readings, and the degree of difficulty before attending the first
class. Therefore, I think there should have a forum to help students to understand their
program deeply and plan ahead. Students choose their program first, then they will be added
into a channel. In the channel, everyone can freely discuss the program. Plus, students also
can join the channels of certain courses. This system can help students understand the degree
of difficulty, the certain content of programs and courses, professors, readings and textbooks.
Intelligent Parking

The parking system of Northeastern University is very complex. Different parking lots and
garages have different admission and available time. For example, some parking lots and
garages only accept faculties, some parking lots and garages accept both faculties and
students but students only are accepted in a certain period, the guests only are accepted in
two garages and there are some limitations. I believe that most students and faculties cannot
remember and clearly understand this complicated system. So, I want to develop a system
that can automatically tell you which parking lot or garage is appropriate for you, and navigate
you to the right place.

Advanced Admission System

Generally, when prospective students choose their program, a part of them hesitate to make
a final decision, especially for undergraduate students. Therefore, Northeastern University
could build a system to help students compare each major and program based on their hobby,
interest, personality, career goal and dream. Prospective students input their information,
then the system will recommend the programs. Additionally, the system can compare several
programs on one page. The course, credit, career goal, prerequisite, co-op, thesis and so on
of the programs will directly show on one page.

NU Classroom

The Snell library is very crowded, so the empty classroom resource is very important in
Northeastern. I think the empty classroom should open to students. Students can book the
empty classroom for group work, activities and so on. In present, the Northeastern does not
have a system to info the empty classrooms and offer a booking portal. For my perspective,
the information of classrooms should be shown, such as the what technology is available and
what activities could be organized in this classroom, the schedule of classrooms should be
presented, such as the available time, and the booking portal is supposed to be offered in
this system.
