Create Your Sacred Space  
~ Your Cocoon ~ 
In your daily life you have so much to think about and a long
list of things to do. Between work, children, and errands, you
hardly have a moment for yourself. This is why you must have
a special place to renew your connection with your inner self
and spirit. When you create your cocoon, it will encourage a
quietness, and it will call out to your soul to listen.

Find a quiet spot, a room or nook in your home or office to


create your cocoon. This is a place where you will look inside
yourself to reflect, be quiet, and get centered.

Choose a space that you can create and as your sacred space
that can be left undisturbed. A place that can be for you and
you alone. Your cocoon should be available to you anytime
you need it.

​Here are some suggestions for creating your sacred space: 

1. Convert a place in your home; an attic or guest room or


simply create a corner that is dedicated to self-nourishment.
Hang a screen, beads, or a curtain to emphasize the
importance of the environment as a place of solitude. This
sacred space can be used to connect and receive inner
guidance and knowledge. It can also be used to write in your
journal, draw, paint, chant, play an instrument, sit and
daydream or simply listen to birds sing outside.

2. To set the mood place pillows on the floor, a rug, a yoga


mat, silk scarves, or find a comfortable chair that supports
your back.

3. Set up an altar with meaningful objects to bring in the


energy of spirituality. Each object can be placed with an
intention of going deep within your heart and soul.

4. Creating an altar can be as simple as draping a small table


with a special fabric. On top of the table, place items such as
a candle, incense burner, essential oil diffuser, salt lamp, or
natural objects like rocks, crystals, and seashells that bring in
the earth element. You can place a symbol of your religion or
spiritual practice as well.

Suggestions for creating your sacred space continued: 

5. Add plants and flowers for energy, color, and increased


oxygen. Lavender and purple symbolize spirituality, pink
opens the heart, green brings in nature’s balance and yellow
stimulates health.

6. Hang pictures of fun memories, your happy self, gardens,


mountains, water, or angels to create a feeling of peace and
harmony.

7. Soft music and an insightful book will offer you inspiration.


Spiritual poetry (such as Rumi), coloring books, colored
pencils, and your special journal all can be a gateway into self-
transformation.

Your special cocoon is a perfect place to ask for guidance,


connect with the divine, do yoga, practice deep breathing,
meditate, and create a positive vision for your life.

As you refocus on your inner life you’ll find yourself being


more aware of your mind, body, and soul. You will start to
gain more clarity, happiness and a sense of calm. You will also
feel more connected with yourself, more balanced, and more
inspired to follow your heart.
